Adding a image to a 3d text?

Does anyone know how to add a image over a 3d text made in C4D? Like for an example I used Kinaesthic's signature to show what i mean

the woods and all over his text. sorry Kin if this has made you mad for using your GFX for a example but its the only one i can think of to use for an example.

 

Photoshop.

> Place the picture of the forest or w/e you have on top of the text.

> Hold control and click the box of the 3d text layer

> Select - Inverse

> Cut

 

That didn't help much i knew that much but how... like do i put the image over it and screen it or what?.... cause idk what to do i know screening works in different ways

I attempted this and well the inverse selection is all grayed out D:

 

Place the layer you want on top (Woods)

Create Clipping Mask

Should be fixed.

If you want the woods to be only on part of the text, select area you want and do create clipping mask.

If you still can't get it to work post again and I will make a small tutorial for you.

You should get better at photoshop before you attempt to combine 3D with photoshop effects. Learn to make "tags", or 2D signature art. Read up on tutorials.

www.tutorialized.com was my favorite tut-resource site when I started out, I'm sure it also have 3D graphic tutorials somewhere in there too.

 

Once you have the piece from cinema 4d, The 3d text, import it into photoshop.

One way you can add the "overlayed" effect of the texture would be a clipping mask style. You can place the style on top of the c4d text and right click > Create clipping mask. Work with layer options and opacity for desired effect.
