Reporting?

I have messaged quite a few staff about this, and they all seem to be to busy. Ok so I mailed some merchandise to an individual here on Sythe a week ago, and have not heard back from this person. Plenty of messages have been sent to him, and I was wondering if there was a way I could post a scam report, and get him banned, and possibly get my merchandise back? I have his irl address, and can drive to his house in about 11 hours, but I don't want to do that unless I know I have been scammed.

As for getting your money back, there's nothing no one here can do about it. If you want to drive to his house and confront him yourself then that's your choice, I would be careful though if you decided to do that, you never know who you're talking to on the Internet.

Unless you sent him like a Rolex or something of equal value I wouldn't recommend you driving to his house. First for your personal safety and because it could lead to legal troubles. Follow the link that Laptop posted and read all of the stickies and make a scam report and chock it up as a loss.

 

He has $300 worth merchandise of mine. Could I get the authorities involved?

 

I think only courts could help you with getting your money back, it's not really the police's job to go around trying to return scammed funds. It's $300 though so that is understandable. If you decide to go, then tell a friend or family member where you're going and give them the address, you may want to take someone with you like a friend or something. I would never meet someone online without telling someone first or going on my own.

 

If you have sufficient evidence. First call your local authorities and ask them what options you have, but theft of $300 is a fairly minor charge. Just make sure you don't go around threatening him or anything because that has the potential to lead to trouble for you.

Pretty sure all he can do is small claims court, at least that's pretty much all you can do in the UK. I don't know how the system works in his country.

But take a moment and consider with fuel prices the way they are you will be driving 31 hours. Unless you have a vehicle that can get 200 miles to the gallon then you are going to be paying more in fuel than you will be getting back, even flying you will be coming back with a huge deficit. Right now you are thinking retribution, but you should cool down. You don't want to be acting rashly in a fit of illogical thinking and something happen to effect you for the totality of your life.

The first thing to do is to learn to trade safer if you are going to trade on Sythe.

 

This person has 250+ vouches, thought it was safe. It is not the face cost of the merchandise I sent him, it is the memories I have with it, and for him to scam me for it, yeah I will spend the money in gas getting there. Truly I hope he does pay me the amount we agreed on, but if not further action will be taken on my side. He lives with his parents, so maybe I can speak to his parents about this, and get him in trouble that way.

 

Sounds like he's under 18 if he lives with his parents, if you end up going, then talking to them would be a good idea, although make sure you take proof he supposedly scammed you.

I'll link Pockets this over MSN, but I highly doubt he would scam you, especially if he gave you his address and such. Give it another 24 hours to get a reply off him, you are free to file a scammer report at anytime, however.

Thanks. Only reason I went first is seeing how much trust he has on here. I will give him 24 hours though. I have sent him multiple pm's, and he has not replied to one of them, even when he is online.

 

Well, he is staff, more to the point a Market Mod. Market Mod's tend to be most busiest ones, although I agree it only takes a few seconds to a minute or two to reply to a PM. You have to remember he's quite busy on the site and real life. He's currently Away on MSN, so he'll see this when he gets back.

 

I understand. The reason I didn't post who it was to begin with is because I wanted unbiased opinions, and what people really think I should do.

 

If a user scams you, then you post the report, no matter who they are or what their standing is on the site.

 

Thanks for showing me this laptop. I just got an envelope this afternoon and was just logging on to let you know. However there was nothing inside but a lot of paper.

There was a small hole on the side, probably enough to take out a ring. I don't know why you'd send in a plain paper envelope, which is clearly a bad idea, when a small box would have cost at most a few dollars extra.

Either this is a scam attempt on me or it was stolen. If it was stolen, I'm sorry for your loss, but I can't be responsible for improper packaging or stolen mail.

Also, correcting some other mistakes here:
1) We had agreed on $80, not $300.
2) I'm visiting my parents for a few weeks before I go home. Also, they won't help you because the saw me open the envelope and take out nothing but paper.
3) You mailed it on Sunday I believe, meaning it was sent out Monday. Not a week ago.
