Sythe.org FAQ
Please post any common questions that should be added, corrections, or feedback. However, this thread is not to ask questions in.
What is Sythe.org?
Sythe.Org is a RuneScape cheating forum owned and created on April 22nd 2005, by Sythe himself, after the fall of RuneCMS. Though Sythe.Org's main user region is its black market, which is used by hundreds of users a day, Sythe also is home to several different types of programming forums, a general discussion forum, an intelligent debate forum, and a community general forum. The major percentage of users play RuneScape and will generally stay around the market forums, though while browsing Sythe you will find that many of the users who regularly post in Community General and the Off Topic sections once played RuneScape but have since stopped.
How can I contact Sythe.org?
Simply make your way to the link down the bottom of the page, or go here. http://sythe.org/sendmessage.php
Does Sythe.Org have any rules I must follow?
Of course! The rules can be found here: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=148431 - Make sure you read up on these before you begin posting.
What are ranks, how do they change and how can I get one?
The ranks are the words, and sometimes images below ones name. The rank directly below your name (i.e Newcomer, Active Member) is reflective of your postcount.
The posting ranks are as follows:
Posting Ranks:
0 - 24 = Newcomer
25 - 99 = Member
100 - 249 = Active Member
250 - 624 = Forum Addict
625 - 999 = Apprentice
1000 - 1999 = Guru
2000 - 4999 = Grand Master
5000 - 9999 = Hero
10000+ = Legend
You may have seen other image ranks such as Cracker Head, Crabby or Highly Trusted. Some of these are fun ranks which are given out sparingly by Administrators, others are earned for your work around the forums such as vb.net programmer and Highly Trusted. For a more extensive and detailed listing of ranks, see this thread: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=367619
I'm tired of my name on Sythe, can I get it changed?
No, unfortunately you can't. If we were to give anyone a name change who wanted one then the admins would have to be changing names all the time, not to mention the fact people would get confused if others changed their name. So no name changes, pick wisely when you sign up. Name changes are only to be used for newly promoted staff who are deemed to have unprofessional names, and this only.
Who runs and controls Sythe.Org?
Sythe is controlled by a hard working team, consisting of sectional moderators, global moderators and administrators. A user who is one of these will have a rank which will tell you what type of mod or admin they are. A list of moderators can be found here: http://sythe.org/showgroups.php
Who moderates where?
A sectional moderator will moderate whatever section he or she is assigned to, for example a Runescape Moderator will moderate all threads and posts in the Runescape forums. Global moderators have the power to moderate every forum and admins can moderate every forum, as well as having complete control of all forums through the admin panel. All moderators and admins can give any user an infraction (except those of an equal or higher power than them) an infraction in any forum.
How are moderators chosen?
This sticky by Finn should cover all questions of this nature: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=856069
What are infractions and what do they do?
Infractions are punishments given out by moderators to people who break the Sythe.Org rules when posting, usually they are received for things like double posting, flaming, oversized signatures and advertising. An infraction can only be seen by whoever has the infraction (they are at the bottom of your profile) and other moderators and admins. If you get five infractions you will be banned temporarily for three days, and if you accumulate seven infractions you will be banned temporarily for one week. Luckily infractions will usually go away after the time period of one month. (Though the period of time can be set to different lengths by admins). Users can also be banned immediately for breaking the most serious rules. If you wish to dispute an infraction you believe was given unfairly, then you should only dispute via PM with the moderator who issued the infraction.
How do I donate, what are my donations used for and what are the perks?
The current methods in which you can to donate to Sythe are via FireZ RSGP donation service or Mail order. Donations are a vital part of Sythe.org and play a huge role in keeping Sythe.org funded. The bottom line is that servers are expensive, especially on the scale Sythe.org needs. Your donation will go towards keeping Sythe.org alive and ensuring the site remains stable, available, and up-to-date. Perks for donators start with things like access to the Donator's Lounge, a bigger PM box which can hold 500 messages and over 30 extra post icons. As you donate more, more perks become available such as a custom usertitle and a user image. For more information on donations, visit the donation centre: http://sythe.org/donations/
Does Sythe have an irc server?
Yes, there is an unofficial server ran by some of the members of Sythe. If you'd like to join the server is irc.striked.org and channel is #sythe. Additionally, there is a webclient you can join from - www.striked.org. When joining, please use a nickname relative to your Sythe account and keep in mind that there is to be no trading in the channel.
What is an MM?
"MM" stands for "Middle Man" and is the term given to someone who is, in affect, in the "middle" of a trade, so that neither person can be scammed (to an extent). In most trades, a middle man will take the items which are being traded from both sides, inspect them both and hand them to the appropriate people. On Sythe you can find official MMs and unofficial MMs. An official MM is someone who has completed their MM application and has been selected as a trusted member of Sythe and is recommended to be used as an MM so that people wont get scammed. An unofficial MM has not completed an MM application and is either looking to become official or just to help the community. Caution should be exercised when using these MMs as their ability to be trusted is questionable. A list of Official MMs can be found here: http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=778174
I've been scammed! How do I report the scammer?
If you have been scammed, please head down to the Report a Scammer section and file a report accordingly. Make sure you read the stickies and include all relevant proofs (chat logs are NOT proof) you have of the scam that can aid the moderators who answer the report in getting the scammer banned quicker.
Can I have my account deleted?
No, you can not. However, you can request a ban on your account by PMing a global moderator.
