144hz with hdmi / thunderbolt port

Does the thunderbolt port support 144hz with display port - mini display adapter?

How about hdmi?

It comes down to what version port you're using and whether it supports the hz rate you're going for + you need to have a monitor that can handle the frames and a GPU that can push them.

144 HZ monitor would be a waste of money with that GPU unless you're playing some really old games.

Check the version of your ports, then google the port version and that should answer your question.

Alright, I'm not sure of CS:Go req's to push 140 fps so I'd run a benchmark before you pour money into a monitor and all (providing you haven't already).

 

Bro I run cs at +300fps and f.e bf perfectly fine with max ultra graphics. My laptop cost around 1900$ a 1.5 years ago so I think it should by fine

 

I had no idea what kinda games you planned on playing and laptop gaming is still heavily limited definitely with the likes of an 880M (less so with the new 10 series which match the performance of an 980), but gaming laptops as a whole are often over priced and under perform.

If you're stilling to those games, then go for it, but you won't be pushing anywhere near 144 fps on a modern AAA game (well, on ultra anyway).

But yeah, check the port versions and you should be good. I imagine the display port is surely fine and perhaps the hdmi as well.

 

Hdmi doesnt even support 144hz. You need to use DVI-D or DisplayPort.

HDMI 1.4 supports up to 120hz max @ 720p

 

HDMI 2.0 can support 120 hz at 1080p (said laptop most certainly doesn't have this).

And yes a thunderbolt port should support 144hz, almost all revisions of DisplayPort are capable of 144hz at 1080p and Apple integrated the 1.2 revision in 2011ish.
