Account Secure?

Is my account secure? I just bought an account (got scammed one before) and it has recoveries on it? Will the original owner be able to get it back?

I set JAG, changed password and emails.

You can do whatever you want, the original owner can always recover anyway.

There's no way to protect yourself from that.

 

Really? Then why do people risk selling accounts?

 

They're not risking anything really, all they need is the previous email the account was registered to, and like a payment and some other easy info, that can get them the account. The only one risking here is the buyer and that would be you.

 

The real question is: "Why do people risk BUYING accounts?"

Only ever buy from someone you trust.

 

Lol this question is dumb you buy an acc at the risk of it being recovered always expect that it be recovered unless u use a trusted player.

 

If the original owner shows enough proof to Jagex they can lock your account and he or she can recover it back

I definitely wouldn't keep any money on the account. Did you buy the account off of a site?

 

Yeah thats basically a bad sign. I dont think its possible to change recoveries anymore since the release of JAG, but lets just hope he doesn't remember the recovs. Like what Xier0 said, I wouldn't keep any money on that account if I were you.

 

I bought it off someone on Powerbot with 0 vouches, he sold it very cheap for PP though.

Do everything you can to secure the account, but I wouldn't invest much time or money into the account for at least a while.

 

Accounts are always recoverable. I would advise keeping your "bank" on a secure account of yours to ensure the safety of your hard earned GP.

 

Definitely leave no money on the account and train the account conservatively. Don't go grinding out tons of skills who knows it may never be recovered but play on it slowly accomplishing the little goals on the account. Slowly invest more of your time/funds if the account is not recovered.

He's not necessarily fucked, if the person reverts the account and as he said above he did pay through paypal, you can always chargeback if he takes his account back, so either way you'll be able to get your funds back if he does.

 

It depends, you can't charge back if you sent a payment through as a gift, which is what people do now adays in order to prevent chargebacks. Account sales are usually like this unless you bought it through a website link, which was attached to a specific product.

Also, you can't chargeback if the purchase has exceeded 45 days. If the owner decides to recover 46 days after the purchase, its over :S
