Infract people with fake contact information.

Its ovbious his Yahoo name + aim name aren't "Jeff".

I suggest that if moderators see people who have entered fake contact information, they PM the person, and if they dont comply with removing it, infract them.

They enter in fake information so that they can have the little pictures under there "Location" on a post.

When I first joined Sythe I used the following:

-Skype
-AIM
-MSN

As I was not comfortable with handing out my personal info I listed all three as "Pm my inbox" or something along those lines. During one of my trades with the use of an OMM (Jethr0x) he told me that I had to either provide correct information or edit it out (I opted to take it out). He explained to me that someone could screenshot my contacts, create an MSN/AIM/Skype named "Pm my inbox", scam, and than I would be held responsible. Although an infraction may be a little harsh, a simple warning should suffice and the users be known that they are responsible if someone with their contact ID goes and scams.

 

What Snow says sounds very dangerous indeed. I support, but only due to what snow says.

True, Even though an infraction is a little harsh FAKE contact info, not something like "PM Me" but some obvious fake one means they probably want to scam. but again an infraction is a bit much since we cant read other peoples minds so i agree with snow on the warning.

That's exactly why it shouldn't matter. If I put "Bob" as my AIM user, and you somehow see "Bob" sign on AIM, you should still ALWAYS ask for a PM.

It includes my full name, that's why I don't want everyone having it. But I do want people do know that I have Skype

 

My second suggest is that spammers who get 700 posts in 1 month be removed from making suggestions on a site that they've only been on for, 1 month.

Is it really going to harm you if the contact info is false and think about it maybe 0.5/ 100 people have false contact info. If you make a list of 100 people with fake contact info I'll support infracting.

someone could just pm their contact details, I've traded with a few people now who don't have any contact details, since they do not want scammers adding them. Also, some people just don't want to give out their details online, and who are we to force them to?

Lastly, there's already a report a spammer section, why would we want to encourage people to be less active in a certain section of the forum?

EDIT: I've been back on for about 2 weeks now, and I've managed to get 100 vouches, which I'd say is more than you've achieved in 3 years, there's plenty of others too, NZreborn, etc... Not all newcomers are scammers and it doesn't take a month to get used to the forum either.

Your suggestions encourage people to be less active, and to share their personal details online.
