[APPROVED]Remove the update about the vouching / bumping system

On phone atm, unsure what this thread is meant to convey (aside the obv vouch posts)?

Im talking about actual quantitative/qualitative data pertaining to user signup up and retention rates, that likely only @Sythe or @Matthew would have access to.

A base set of data could potentially be manipulated and extrapolated to give us some indication of what the true narrative is. Then again, depends on the data and what is available. Im sure we could find some correlation, even if no causation.

 

Almost a full page of users who only vouched on the sales threads. And didn't do anything else on the forum, ever.. Interesting ....

 

This isn't data though? We all know (and have known for years), and can see, that people sign up to solely post vouches on said threads...thus the recent rule change.

I think you're misunderstanding what we/I am saying. I'm not saying we look at the data for members since this new rule change, nor am I limiting said data to any particular benchmark or category. What I am saying is, we need to assess overall what reels traffic results, and we have 14 years worth of that data.

NB; we can also conduct a regression analysis on the current data (since said new rule change), to ascertain any relative variables.

However, I highly doubt said data will be publicly disclosed.

 

I expected the suggestion to be implemented in this manner: there would be a limit on how often a thread could be bumped regardless of the posts made on it i.e. 10 people reply to a thread in a X hour period (where X is the bump limit), but only the first post bumps the thread unless Sythe gold/some other perk is used to bump the thread. The way the suggestion was implemented requires too much micromanagement from users and mods.

 

More limitations on a free market.

 

Bro Just click on the users of each vouch then click on "information" then
"Find all content by "x user"" then you will find how some of them end up buying firecapes, quests, gold or anything from some other users.



For example, this guy bought gold from like 5 different users, swapped gold a few times, bought skilling services and questing services and again people in this thread wants to claim that the vouch/bonus gold doesn't work at all.

Also, I think that if they don't stay more time is because they don't even know about how the forum works if newcomers receive more information about the fact that they can find more things related to Runescape they would stay more.

You need to understand that, a sample size of 1, 100, or even 1000, is not a reliable indicator to any extent, without any benchmark, context, or comparable element.

Our aim is to deduce what results in site traffic, what results in user retention, and most importantly, a cost-benefit analysis, which determines the most efficient method.

I mean, it's evident some users stay after vouching, defs not arguing that - but there are many other variables to consider.

Anyway, im likely overcomplicating this. Im indifferent towards this vouch-bump issue, but think that before any new decision is reached, all perspectives should be considered.

 

Discussing with @Sythe, we will permit vouches to be used as bumps once every 4 hours. Your thread may still only be bumped once every 4 hours whether by you, an autobumper, or a vouch. This is the only change we will be making to the new rule
