"Welcome to Sythe.org" email

I think it could be pretty helpful to new members if in the 'Welcome' email that everyone receives when they register, there were links to some of the parts of the forum new users generally have trouble finding. For example, Report a Scammer, the Middle Man forum, or The Rules of Sythe (yes, I know they're at the top of the front-page, though I don't think it would hurt to include them as a reminder), or any other important information that Newcomers could use.


Some other possibilities:

 

Maybe an automatic PM with like a Sythe noobie guide, but not an email. The email idea is a little impractical, but I think an automatic PM could be worked out.

This seems an interesting idea and could help stop a lot of new members posting in the wrong section, thus less work for the mods to have to move them. If this can be done, then support.

 

Doesn't seem like too bad of an idea to me. A welcome PM with links to the Official Rules, Sythe.org Support, and possibly a short warning to new users regarding proper trading practices.

 

Although I support the original suggestion from this thread, I also like this suggestion as not many people (including myself) check my email occasionally enough to even have read the Sythe.org email I would have received myself.

However an automated PM would definitely 'force' the new member to read any sufficient threads such as the official rules (as I am sure not many people have read).

I support this, when I first came to sythe it took me ages to get used to it and find all the forums/sub-forums. Would be a great addition!

 

Sounds like a reasonable idea, I reckon the Sythe FAQ could just be linked in the email - Sythe FAQ

 

Tbh....why? I can guarantee you nearly all of the people who register don't even open the mail. I, for one, just delete it them when I see them without opening it.

 

I agree with this. It'll be a waste of time for someone to have to write it. Stickies are ignored, and welcome emails are ignored even more.

 

I support this, an automated pm from an admin when you register than shows the basics.

 

I support the idea of some kind of automatic PM. It's really hard to learn about Sythe. It took me god knows how long to learn basic stuff about Sythe. I didn't know what stickies were for the longest time either. If your not coming from another forum, it's really hard to learn.

I support this, no need of an e-mail really but an automated PM would be great just like when you donate and you recieve an automated PM from Matt
