    Remove bots from the game?

    Just a simple question, is it sounds easy or its possible?
    My question is - if jagex made item & npc ID's from static ID to dynamic ID (that generates different ID's every second or so). I think that would stop bots. Im not programmer, just a simple question, why jagex does not do that to remove the bots from the game? Or its just super hard to do that.

    That wouldn't work regardless, I myself am a bot author for a certain platform and we mostly identify NPCs, Objects etc via name. ID's do change but not as frequent as you would like them to.

    The only way they could prevent botting is for them to allow botting on their game, this would decrease the price of gold and nobody would like to purchase gold due to the decrease in price. It wouldn't be worth them botting for basically... Thus lowering the amount of bots and real players entering the game.

    As was mentioned, most bots find objects by name now, not ID.

    In general this could be categorized as breaking API changes, client gets updated roughly once a month and bots break until the developers update the bots, accounts get flagged by either their login pattern (being offline a couple days after the update), or by falling for a trap as you mentioned.

    Not a particularly effective tactic, there's more consistent methods available, the issue is not that jagex doesn't have ways to detect bots, it's that they have thousands and they rely on a scoring system which leaves false positives and positive falses.

    But they usually handle it by doing ban waves every couple of months, keeps the bot devs and users paying and guessing, instead of giving instant feedback on their detection.
