Removal of Donations and Miniranks.

@Time Crunch is having a hard time getting pardoned. In all honesty, I like to sit on the fence. But, if one of the considerations in a mods decision is donations, why not have it be said that if you are banned for scamming or for malicious intent to scam or deceive someone out of money or goods that you lose your donor status and any attached miniranks upon being pardoned.

Someone earlier also quoted me and asked me about the potential for more Ban Evading. Let's be real, failure to pardon will still be a reason for them to vade anyway, this way, they have the opportunity to re-donate for that status, alternatively have the ability to use previous vouches and continue their businesses without their donor status/perks.

This will effect usernames, avatars & status's but frankly I see no reason why these people shouldn't be reset to day one, minus vouches.

There is still a huge incentive for people to pardon, for vouch purposes.

 

Reset to day one, as in like just hopping on a new IP and creating a new account?

Minus the need to repay victims of your scam?

 

As in, reset your donation status & miniranks - the thing that may give you a false sense of ultimate power on the forum, then start from ground 0 in that sense.

The perk of being pardoned would be your longevity on sythe and any positive vouches you have obtained.

 

Also, your missing the point. part of a pardon is repaying your victims.

 

Anything that would disincentive banned users to pardon/repay has been denied time and time again. This has been suggested many times before, in vein.

Good in thought, counterproductive if actually implemented. Would promote more ban evasion as scammers would have much less of an incentive to repay and unban.

 

You realise you pay off your debt before going into voting, right? Your whole suggestion just doesn't make any sense.

 

I would suggest quite the opposite, leave everything except the vouches, cuz they no longer represent the trust

Folks.

Ban Evading can limit a users amount possible to scam. If a scammer with a $200/$300 donor sign returns to Sythe, they have access for most users to trust them to the value of that donation.

Be real, most users in a position where they are $200 donors have enough vouches to want to return to their account.

 

Ah, yes sir. Lets not try and limit a scammer's ability to scam again.

 

This is simply not true. There are users who have $100/$200 donations, etc. but don’t run businesses on sythe so they don’t have tons of vouches man. A lot of newcomers also buy Donator status within their first couple of months. If they were banned and stripped of their status, it would really promote them to just create a new account. Furthermore, I feel like it would create spite and a vendetta to scam in order to recoup their lost donation money.

 

No. You've misunderstood.
A ban evader would not be able to (realistically) come back and scam $500 immediately.
A $200-300 donor could.

Heh I'll support just for the banter. Otherwise, no supports ofcourse, this will never happen.

 

While the thought behind this thread is good, the execution would lead to a mess when it comes to handling refunds to scam victims. No support.

This would literally cause an overflow of users to create new accounts to just ban evade, i imagine a high % of people who return and request pardons is because of there donator status.
It would give almost no incentive for people who have donated and made a mistake to return, also once you are trusted enough on sythe and been around long enough you are able to donate via PP - removing someones donator even after they fixed there mistake would just lead to PP disputes which could affect sythe directly(or there bond holders.)

Although i see why you would suggest this, it just wouldn't work and would create more issues.
