Relaunch of User Education

This is good to see

 

Nice to see positive change, I must check out the UE section, I haven't really used it very much.

Maybe 'Knowledge Base', or something similar.

 

The name and the rank can stay, both of them are good.

 

The User Educator rank to me was not a rank given to those that educate the users, more of a rank for those with enough time to go for another icon next to their name. I always educate Sythe.orgs users, have done so for a few years now, but only once considered UE. Even though I know it would benefit the community, with or without the rank I try to help. So I always felt I help benefit the community anyways. Which is why I never actually applied.

One of the main things stopping me from applying for UE was the rigorious task of creating 5 original detailed guides on an internet that is so old. It was more of a task for those that want the rank, take rabs for example a scammer that took advantage of writing 5 crappy guides to get in for a rank. No offense, but for a long time I perceived it to be just that; a rank and status symbol. Alot of UE's give up "educating" once in. I believe there are educators amongst those ranks though don't get me wrong, hopefully with this change they will be more active.

So a User Education rank to me wasn't exactly my thing or in my agenda. With this new change I am hopeful once again. Maybe the real bright minds and insightful people will shine for the right reasons. And maybe I will submit an application, especially if the rank actually starts to mean something to me and others. As it looks like it's beginning to. A very well thought out change.

How about something like "Assistant" or "Supporter"?

Not so much supporter, i think that would more go towards donations, as they're financially supporting the site. I could agree with "Assistant" or "Adviser" though. Adviser sounds nice, but I'm afraid it would be confused with some sort of moderator position.

Maybe name it 'The Knowledgebase' like suggest above, the rank could be called 'KB Contributor', or something along those lines.

This is more along the lines I was thinking of. We're trying to say the same thing as 'user educator' without it sounding so pompous.

 

"Mentor"?

 

Air of entitlement to it again. I know I wouldn't like to be ''mentored'' by someone, particularly if I deemed them a lesser writer than myself.

 

Though I have never used the section, perhaps I'll glance at it now. A new title could be a "Knowledge Guru" or something along those lines. The image of the rank should be changed. It's doesn't appeal to me.

 

I appreciate the revamping of this section, I for one have applied but don't want the rank. Is there anyway (if accepted) to hide it? The name "educator" makes me feel as if I were a teacher.
Perhaps changing the name to something along the lines of "Official guide section" and changing the rank to say, Guide writer. Something simplistic.
