Relaunch of User Education

Hey all.



For too long, User Education has been a section devoted to needless rigidness, regulation and self-entitlement. These unfortunate characteristics have contributed to the currently ailing state of the section. The overregulation and exclusivity of the section have, in my opinion, given it an unfortunate reputation. I've taken over temporarily as Head User Educator and intend to wholly reverse the unfavourable perception of User Education. I'd like it to be a place where we can all come together and share our knowledge and expertise, as well as a place for us to have fun writing and help others with their applications.

The old application process was far too extensive. I've lowered the guide pre-requisite from five to two, and so have, I hope, made the application process far less tedious. I've also removed the restrictions on recipes amongst other things. I hope the changes and overhaul of the section will encourage renewed interest and a fresh stream of applicants. User Educators will also not be bound by rigid activity requirements - instead they will be encouraged to help users with their guides, applications, and, particularly, to engender a positive approach to User Education and one where the emphasis is on creativity and fun rather than regulation and boredom.

I've also introduced a sticky for applicants where they are able to get to know one another, share ideas, thoughts, tips, etc. You'll also be able to seek advice and assistance with your application there.

Whoa! Thanks a bunch Finn! I hope the section will become more active now! I see you changed the amount of guides needed to two, that's great! Once again, thanks for reforming User Education! Hopefully, it will become a more active section!

 

Nice update, recipes were not accepted because they can be easily copied and I think 3 guides limit would be alright.

 

Finn, great to see you're a HUE now! Great changes man, I hope this brings in a new wave of dedicated User Educators!

Very very very good update. I think making you HUE and changing the rough requirements will attract more people. I may even consider applying again. Good update.

Great update. I mostly see positive outcomes from this update, hopefully no one will abuse recipes.

I've also been considering changing the name of the section and changing its ranks accordingly. In my opinion, the very concept of ''educating'' other users is one that smacks overtly of entitlement. Perhaps something that sounds less... assholeish? Any thoughts, guys?
