    Relationship with boss

I was wondering for all you working people out there

whats your relationship like with your boss?

is it strictly professional or kind of casual that you can joke around with and stuff

this just came to mind as I was watching House and realized all the shit he gave Cuddy and blahblhblabhlbalabhl

my boss is actually my sister's old boss from another job she had and so we kind of had that connection so its more casual

More like casual as I work part time at a bar and my boss is most of the time drunk as fuck so casual would be the best description for it.

I always talk shit with mine. Hes kinda primp and proper so it throws him off his game a little but I think he appreciates being treated like one of the guys.

Hes got the goofiest laugh if you tell him a risque or downright raunchy joke.

I worked in a hardware store, so in my department we had our department Manager & Asst. Manager; above them were the store (general) managers. With my store managers we had to act as professional as possible. We were the 2nd busiest hardware store of our kind in the state, so they were -strict-.

In my actual department, it was awesome. My manager was a hilarious guy and we'd often sit and tell each other racist jokes, but he was a prickler for keeping your shirt tucked in and your phone stashed away. My Asst. Manager was only 2 years older than me and she was on her phone 24/7 and constantly bending rules.

Got along great with both - was more comfortable with my Asst. Manager because of our ages but was definitely more productive with my Manager.

    Good times!

Where I'm currently working I'm very casual with my superintendent. He really acts like one of the boys so he fits right in with the crowd.

He really doesn't act like a superintendent though, he's the first to get in and very likely the hardest worker of our crew.

Very awkward. It's hard to ask her for anything because of her personality.

With my boss, it's sort of a mixture of the two. She can be really uptight and strict, so it's not very much fun to joke around with her, but at the same time, she can be pretty caring and understanding.

It's pretty weird to be honest, like she has two personalities at times.

Where i work it's very 50/50. I have some operators who are bipolar so sometimes they are absolute shit and rude and you literally want to smack them upside the head, and then there are some who are so fucking awesome that you just hope to see your name in their department when you walk in at 5 am. The foremans are... well they are fire-trigger happy, meaning they have fired a boatload of people they don't feel make the cut, and the ones who survive the nuke are usually... good. But yeah they are cool as well, if they reember you're name it's a good thing, which in my case they do. As someone stated above, there is a time and place for professionalism and humor.

Exactly, all depends on situation really, times to be professional with your boss and times to be casual...
