Mainly a religious belief, but do you really think someone/something can reincarnate into another form of life? Personally, I don't think this will happen, partly because I'm an atheist and don't believe in religious practices. But also, I go by the quote

    This is purely my opinion.

No. I do not believe that dead cells and neurons from your body can instantly be transported into another form.

Theoretically, all matter will always exist when you apply the law of conservation of mass. Perhaps one day the matter that makes up you may one day make up some other living being.

But reincarnation as people commonly think of it is scientifically impossible, so I don't believe it.

Death happens when all the cells in the body don't function properly anymore. In other words, they die. Since organ systems are made from organs and organs are made from tissues and tissues are made from cells, we can conclude that reviving the cells may bring a person back to life. This is my hypothesis: An electric jolt combined with chemicals and such given to a cell may actually bring it back to life. Although this isn't really brining a whole organism back to life, it's a start. :)

Let me ask you something. Do you think you will ever perceive again? If part of the matter and energy from you was transferred to another person, would you be a part of their perception? If not, why not? Where does this consciousness even come from then? Obviously it's just chemicals and electricity, so if you are part of that body, you would be experiencing.

My own consciousness is formed by the make-up of my current body. If the matter that I consist of was somehow to become part of another person, I would not be a conscious person in another person's body because that chemical make-up will be different.

It's confusing, but where do you suppose we go? Do we just sit in the ground and rot? I'm not religious, but more agnostic. I don't think instantly we're a cat or something like that, but the possibility may be there. I don't know if this can ever be definitively answered.

the matter from our bodies may possibly one day become a part of something living.. unlikely... because living creatures are created in eggs and wombs.. but nevertheless..

however... our state of mind.. once we die.. dies too.. if we do become something else.. we would never know. its not possible. memory etc are chemicals in the brain..
Swans thoughts and ideas on this, i trust.

How did you become a conscious person then? You are just left over matter and energy from other people and animals. Are you trying to say that if you were to, for example, become a part of someone's leg, you wouldn't be conscious, just a leg? What if you became part of someone's brain tissue? If you can't be added to the body of a human and be a part of their consciousness, what you are saying is that you yourself are more than the matter from others. There is something missing from the equation in that case, no?

Just brain storming a bit. If you CAN become a "part" of consciousness, you're really living your life "reincarnating" all the time with animals, plants, and other humans as the atoms and energy in your body leave. Of course, the most dramatic reincarnation WOULD occur at death, seeing as 100% of you goes back to the universe.

I disagree with the notion that reincarnation happens. Consciousness is a direct result of receptors in the brain firing, ions being sent left and right, electrical signals, and whatever else. The point is, it's a property that can only be attained through the fairly specific physical state of the brain. If your brain was replaced with jello, it would be preposterous to argue that your consciousness would continue. Everything that has caused that state of consciousness to exist has disappeared. When you die, your brain stops doing anything. No more blood goes to it. There is no physical way for it to continue functioning, as the components essential to its function are no longer present. I find it difficult to see how people can imagine that consciousness continues beyond this point.

As for other types of reincarnation, I think that it's essentially meaningless since your memories wouldn't be preserved anyhow. 'You' as a being are not going to reappear, since you are dead... although by chance, perhaps someone with similar traits might. but that person will not be you, in any sense.

No one knows or will knows because no one has experienced death and still lives. It will be impossibly unless there is an invention created to miraculously bring back life.

Scientifically it is not possible. But who knows :\

Many religions believe in reincarnation. They say that history repeats itself. But if there is, what are the possibilities that you would be the same person or even human again?

I mean if reincarnation is real, then where is Mozart, Bach, and other famous people? You'd think that when people come back, they would have the same talents but yet we have not discovered any of those treasured figures.

I've always had this (not entirely serious) belief that after I die I will live again as something else without any prior knowledge. It's pretty much impossible to find out if that happens though, hah.

I don't believe in reincatnation, once were dead were dead, simple as that, or can you remember being alive before you were born?? I think once we die we all go to the void, eternal darkness, like a Dream with nothing. Think about nothing and you'll know what im talking about, the emptiness. Allthough its harsh to think about it that when your dead your gone forever and there is nothing there, thats why, in my opinion the jews made up "God" so that we don't fear our own death, and I think thats the biggest lie since Humanity, to make them believe in something that doesnt exist so that they earn their money.

After you die, you matter will be spread across the world right? But after an infinite amount of time, there is a 100% probability that that matter will reassemble in precisely the way you were made. That'd be cool if this new you had the same conscience...

... But no, I don't think reincarnation, in the spiritual sense, exists

One does not simply just "become" another being. The matter is completely different, and arranged in a completely different way. I suggest you read up on the law of conservation of mass, and take some basic chemistry courses, then perhaps you'll understand a little better.

As for the last part of what you said, we are already a "part of the universe", so I'm at odds about what you mean by that. Sure, our body decomposes and becomes nutrients for plants, or perhaps other scavengers, provided we don't get cremated. That's about as far as it goes. The matter that composes us will always exist, but human beings will not remain conscious for an eternity just because the matter that makes them will continue to exist.
