RS -waterfiends, melee setup, help me?

Is having a Saradomin sword (I have 95 attack) good for training my attack/strength/defence?

Or should I have a different weapon?

What should be my gear to maximise my EXP when fighting waterfiends?

I am gaining a mere 70k XP per hour.

You'd be better off ranging Waterfiends. Even with protections prayers they can hit fairly hard and often with their mage attacks.

Anyway, if you're set on killing them, I'd suggest using the best hybrid gear you can find (Obsidian, World Event Armour, Void, etc.), that might negate some of the damage. Whisper/fury and I'd suggest (if you have one) a charming imp. Waterfiends are one of the best sources for Crimson Charms.

 

If your training there for charms I highly recommend that you switch to range. Preferably either a Royal crossbow or Dual Chaotic crossbow's. I'd recommend royal bolts as ammo for either weapon(s). The rest of your equipment simply the best gear you can wear I used to go for Armadyl or a free alternative is Void.

For healing I'd recommend bringing either a Bunyip or a Unicorn stallion. I'd recommend 2-3 summoning potions 2 range potions and about 18 food. A charming imp is advisable if you have one.



If you are still keen on a melee setup you could dry drygores. How much better they would be than a saradomin godsword I'm not sure, but I saw people use them in the past and they seemed reasonably effective (rapier or longswords?).

 

Don't melee them as everybody has said.

With a good range level and set up you can do a nice like 200k range exp an hour while gettin 300+ crimsons, If you wanna melee charms i'd try some other places, ill get back to you on those places though lol.

Waterfiends are weak to Ranged (Specifically bolt) attacks, but if you're meleeing them you'll want to take a bunyip and some food. Good armour to protect from their Magic based attacks, so I'd recommend a ranged armour, you could get away with using Royal D'hide. Take dual chaotic or another weapon of equivalent level.

 

I suggest using bolts or a crystal bow because waterfiends are weak to them
