    Constant throat pain/sore.

Well lately; I just got done getting over 'Tonsillitis', and was fine for about a week maybe two. But now for the past week; I have been getting massive amounts of pain in my throat/back of throat as well. I do not know what is causing this; but sometimes I feel like I can not take it anymore. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow or sunday, and hopefully see what the problem is. But as far as I know; when some people get over tonsillitis, it's most likely to come back, or give chronic pain to the tonsils, and other various parts in the throat. I am thinking that, I need to get my tonsils removed, but I am not too sure. The doctors; say I really shouldn't get my tonsils out seeing how im 17, but I don't get why they wouldn't take them out? Like I don't get why they say you shouldn't get your tonsils' out when your older rather then when your young. But if anyone has any insight on this i'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks.

lol I know kids that are 8 that have gotten them out. But word of caution when they do it you will be swallowing some blood...and it will be painful. I went through it at 14. But itl be worth it.

If I was in your shoes, I'd get my tonsils removed. I don have much knowledge about tonsils and thoats, but my cousins and other family members have gotten their tonsils out at a young age and they're fine.

Yeah I don't get the big deal about getting them out later. I got mine removed when I was about 7 and I rarely get sore throats or sick in general. I remember one of my friends always had strep throat and their doctor said they might have to remove her tonsils. Not sure if they did though.. It was a couple of years back. Either way I'm glad to have them out.

He's not saying that for most part; he just said they dont like taking tonsils out of older people rather then being young.

I got mine out when i was 19, it was a little painful recovering but definitely worth it. I used to get headaches almost all the time, it was all gone after the surgery. You should definitely get yours out too.

    Constant throat pain/sore.

Im 19 years old and just had my tonsils removed 3 weeks ago. I was having chronic tonsilits and it was the most unpleasant thing in the world to deal with. After talking to my doctor he said that if i get tonsillitis more then 4 times a year, its recommended i get them removed. my surgery was supposed to be 30 minutes, ended up being 2 hours because my tonsils were so infected, and were actually in the processes of having tonsillitis again. The recovery sucked, you cant eat anything for 4-5 days, you feel like you have the worst sore throat imaginable, but now i feel great, glad i got them out :D

    Constant throat pain/sore.

I had mine removed too, it is a bad process for a good 5 days afterward. The stitches in mine came out and I had to go back to the hospital for mine to be restitched, it wasn't fun.

Usually it takes like a year of sore throats every month or two for them to feel comfortable that the only answer would be to remove the tonsils.

Well, I am most likely getting my tonsils out; so regardless of the pain; I just want them out so this doesn't happen anymore.
