Recovering a Hacked Account

Hello everyone.

Recently, a friend of mine had his account hacked with the following:
-chaotics
-1.6b bank

The hacker reset the bank, deleted the pin, somehow retrieved his account email, and they apparently know all of his recovery info. His bank is clean, chaotics gone, and unable to log in. He's been denied a recovery as well:

At this point, what would you guys advise to be the best method of retrieval for the account? Any help would be immensely appreciated.

No way of recovering if he changed everything...

Hello there (rs login name).

My account recently got hacked somehow, could you please reset the current recovery information. I have the first recovery stuff needed to unlock the account.



Thats what I did. and they reseted the recovery stuff and I was the only one that can recover it for so on ;p

 

Pretty much impossible to recover now. I find it hard to believe that even knowing his info they wont grant him the account. He should have the benefit of the doubt because of the IP address he is sending the recovery request from. Is he the original owner by any chance? They may have denied him because of that.

Only thing I would recommend is try again. Maybe another customer support rep may be more sensitive or lean his way. Chances are he is done though sorry.

 

If he keep trying recover it using his information, he will get it after a few appeals. But as long as they know all his information, he won't be safe.

 

Was he keylogged or something, with the recovery info stored somewhere on his comp? Sure sounds like it; how else would they know and gain access to his email and know all that? Other than that, he should have had the upperhand if he was truely the original owner. Sorry to hear it, seems unlikely he'll get it back unless contacting the directly, but good luck to him.

 

Keep trying to recover and send appeals. You will get alot of denied appeals but the main this is if his IP is the same or at least close to the original?

From experience it took 42 appeals to get back an account I lost with my IP address being a few digits different from original.

 

Keyloggers only record keystrokes. I doubt he got keylogged while creating a file for his recovery info If anything, it was a trojan.

They could have pieced the info together in order to recover the account as well, like they did with Chessy.

I'd do what Triple Kill said, email Jagex.

How do you know the chaotics were gone? It takes 3 days to reset the pin. Shame he couldn't secure his account within that time frame. I wish him the best of luck with the recovery of his account.

 

Another thing I wanted to add from personal experience, I had a tank ranger that was hacked along with recov info after trying to sell it on Fagex (this was around 2005-2006). What Jagex did since we both knew the info is they flat out locked the account. Neither of us could recover. Its still locked to this day.

 

post in the account section help on forums in rs thats what i had to do also emailing them tell them to check the ip address. i had to do this it took me about 2 days and 7 appeals and 2 emails amd a thread later to get mine back rofl

 

Was the account purchased from someone or was he the original owner? If he was the original owner, he should be able to recover it so I'm not sure what could be a problem there unless the hacker lives close by because the original owner can always recover a account regardless if there is completely new information.
