Just got hacked.

I literally just got hacked, was afk 10 seconds, went to take a shower and I couldn't log-in anymore. Lost 7m, nothing much but I'm really pissed JUST got membership. Anyone, help me on how I possibly could have been hacked.

 

What have you recently downloaded or been browsing.. many things are possible.

Or do any sythe/buddies of yours know your password?

anything along the lines of gold generator, stat changer, free rs accounts on youtube is probably what got you, as its the most common way.

If you didn't do this (because not everyone is an idiot) then make sure you didnt get a phish email from someone "claiming" to be jagex with imposter emails telling you to sign in to confirm your account.

And if none of this i recommend something to clean like CCleaner and a virus detecting program not norton though, norton sucks.

 

In all honnesty haven't downloaded much, I really don't understand how someone could have access to my password............. Man this is so frustrating I'd kill.

I've always been doing everything to have a safe Password, and I do not download retarded stuff. But I guess it doesn't help...

You shouldn't really start again until you've made sure your computer is clean, I suggest a program called ESET Nod32 to scan your PC, I've been using it a few years and it works quite well.

After that set a pin and recoveries, everything you can. It's horrid when you get hacked, finally make the money back and have it stolen again (as it's happened to me quite a while ago)

Have you entered your username or password on a phishing site (from e-mails, people giving web addresses, etc)?
Have you downloaded anything Runescape related or anything from Youtube, etc?

You need to sweep out your PC first to make sure it wasn't RAT, keylogger or something else malicious. Use an updated anti-virus of your choice and do a thorough scan to get rid of the badware.

I know you're angry and I know you're frustrated that you lost your hard-earned gold, but after a hacking people always seem to be more cautious and earn back their money quicker .

Any-one in real life been with you when you were typing your password in?
Try recover it if you haven't already.

I probably just logged in at a friends house and he was maybe klogged... This is pure bs.

 

Always set a bank pin though man.. then they can't touch anything. I put all my stuff away before I log just incase.

If you want to be super safe you could do a format. As for quitting don't bother, just add a pin, get that gp back easily and keep it protected. I've been hacked on other games with no knowledge as to how. So to be safe I just ended up reformatting.

Now that I think of it, the only way I could have gotten hacked was from botting on powerbot...

is your password really weak or something? if it wasn't phishing then maybe your password was just really easy to guess or something? I'm not sure. There's a trillion possibilities
