    Title: Reasons to stay alive

    Author: Matt Haig

Can be purchased here: Reasons to Stay Alive: Amazon.co.uk: Matt Haig: 0787721996125: Books

Synopsis: Aged 24, Matt Haig's world caved in. He could see no way to go on living. This is the true story of how he came through crisis, triumphed over an illness that almost destroyed him and learned to live again. A moving, funny and joyous exploration of how to live better, love better and feel more alive, Reasons to Stay Alive is more than a memoir. It is a book about making the most of your time on earth.

Why I'd recommend this: As someone who has my own problems with mental health, I can say hand-on-heart that this book gives an amazing, accurate insight into what it's like to battle such demons. Many other people have endorsed this book as well, such as Stephen Fry. Whether you're having difficulty yourself or would just like to better understand certain disorders, perhaps to help a friend or something, this book provides a detailed account of life with mental health issues and really shows the struggles of day-to-day living and the intensity of feelings that come with it. I'm not one to rant or preach a lot, but I'm very passionate about trying to remove the stigma surrounding mental health. If you have a spare bit of cash and are looking for a book, you'd be foolish not to purchase this.

If you have already read this book or do so on my recommendation, please leave your own review below! It took me less than 24 hours to get through due to how engaging it was and I hope others can find the same satisfaction.

I've heard very good things about this book and funny to see it's popped back up in my life. Really cheap as well, thanks for the recommendation

Did it help with your demons or did it hinder them? I find reading books with simlar problems just makes me feel worse

For me it wasn't really either. With all being said, I'd say for a book to help you it'd probably have to be medically-based with exercises etc, like the one I was given during my CBT. I found this book refreshing more than anything. When you're really down in the dumps and can see that people have been in exactly the same position and made it out, that really helps in my opinion. Sorry to hear that though, keep fighting it bud.
