What causes gray hair?

I am 14, and i have a few gray hairs, just wondering what would cause this, and if theres anything i can do to prevent this.

 

Your genes. My friends mom had a full head of gray hair at the age of 22. He will probobly get it young too. Does your mom / dad have alot of gray hairs?

 

My mom has none. My dad starting to get a few, but he just started to get them a year ago and he's 50.

 

This is true, however theres more too it. Stress more then anything brings it on, if your stressed out for long periods of time you will start to see gray/white hair (trust me, I know). Also you may be lacking a nutrition. Next time you go to the doctor ask him, it's nothing serious.. =]

 

Stress can cause gray hair, but that's over a long period of time, so if you're fourteen than I doubt it's stress. Not washing your hair well could do that, or if you have dandruf issues you should probably get medicine for it or a type of shampoo to help dandruf.

 

Not really. I mean I'm 17, and I have about 5 strands of gray hair. It's all from stress, I know it is. I'm very healthy so it's not the nutrition thing, and I don't have dandruff, and I always wash my hair lol. Either way, not much to do about it..

 

Well why would you say not really? Because yes really, everything I said was true including that stress could do it, but if you're 17 with 5 strands that makes sense, but he's 14.. 3 years makes a difference. If he's starting gray hair now he'll have a full head by 17, unlike you, you probably just grew the gray hair recently, correct?

 

I wash my hair every day. I have been alot less stressed in the last couple month but the first half of the year was very stressfull.

 

Started about a year ago.

 

Stress and Depression are some of the most common causes.

 

I have dandruff ( treating it ) and I don't have one strand.. so it's not a hair problem.

 

Ive heard Stress Causes gray hairs But not sure if thats true or not.

 

I have a friend who has some grey hairs and hes a vegetarian. I am always skeptical on their diet because yeah i don't think its that healthy. So nutrition could be a factor?

 

Kind of like baldness I'm gonna be bald cause all of my uncles are bald

 

Obama caused it!,Nah Jking but there is this teacher in my school hes 32 and has full head of grey hair he said its genetic

 

Stress causes this. This can be due to Family Problems/School work getting too much/Love Sick ect.

I suggest having a nice long relaxing bath everynight, and taking it easy. It can be genetic, but now at 14 surely :O
Also make sure your eating enough healthy foods!

 

At age 7 or 8 one of those I started growing gray hairs. Now at age 17 my hair is white as snow. The Doctor told me it was due to lack of pigmentation. Maybe it's the same for you.

Anyway people say if you have gray hair at a young age, you have great wisdom!

My dad was pretty gray by 18, it's just in your genes, I'm partially gray also, and I'm 17.
