Middlemen are losing value

I've been noticing that most people who sell their runescape account are willing to use a middleman because they can still recover their account. Although it gets them banned from sythe, most scammers are only interested in doing it once and then riding off into the sunset anyways. For this reason I suggest stricter rules:

1. All users who sell an account on sythe must use an OMM
2. All middlemen must perform a recovery test

If we implement this it may reduce scams by more than half, and increase the prestige of this site.

 

This won't pass as it would change the 'free market' feel that Sythe believes his site should have.

A recovery test does not make the account any more secure to purchase and can potentially get the account banned, although that risk is small.

You can have all the details needed to recover an account and do so successfully, but if someone else comes along with a stronger claim to the account (better info / older IP) then your claim to the account with the information used for a recovery test won't get you anywhere.

 

The problem is recovery tests are too time consuming and let's be honest,even if u do it it doesn't gurantee anything.
Also forcing people to use a OMM is terrible,u should give people the choice,but make it clear that even if they're using a OMM with a recovery test accounts can be recovered.

No support, even if a recovery test is done, ALL ACCOUNTS CAN STILL BE RECOVERED. Using an OMM or MM will never fix that

 

i believe powerbot has that rule where all MM do recovery tests. When i bought mine from someone i was given option to get a recovery test done before i make final payment for the account. I think that OMMs will have more profit from charging recovery tests if they apply this on their thread.

 

There are already threads in the respective account forums that express the risk in purchasing accounts, original ownership of an account, recovery tests, etc. I don't think making them mandatory will reduce any scamming rates IF the seller intends on scamming from the beginning.

It's best to choose a trusted individual when buying an account as they've established a reputation and are less likely to scam, although there's ALWAYS a possibility.

 

Recovery tests are useless, and OMM's don't provide any more security after the fact than regular MM's.

 

Sythe.org is a free market.
We will not restrict the account market to be OMM'd only (as this has been suggested many times before this), and we can't force MM's to perform a test that is useless, and doesn't prove anything for the safety of said account.
The account seller could still hold back information that is of more value to a recovery than the information provided for a successful recovery.
