Someone explain to me about Party Hats

Okay so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I don't really play runescape much. I was just wondering how people are selling Party Hats for over 1B in game, if the GE price is only like 500M.

so what's up?

wow...so let me get this straight...cuz that seems outrageously ridiculous for someone to be that rich. so basically the person selling the phat...lets say 500M phat, will also include enough junk that will total another 500M.

so basically the guy with phat buys junk in GE for least price and sells to the buyer for mid price, and there has to be enough junk giving the seller 500M profit????? that's so ridiculous.

 

Haha, they don't just buy the junk off the g.e. They are usually involved in a merch clan that merched the item, or they solo merched it themselves. They make a lot of money by doing this if you double, triple, or better the price of an item

 

Junk comes from either useless items or items that have been merched.

For example let's say an item has been merched to 5x it's original price, once the item stopped being bought out, thus crashing in price. That will make it junk and will be pretty much impossible to sell in the G/E.

You then can sell that junk with a rare.

 

Or for instance you can sell a Red phat 3b Street value for like 2 Lower part hats

 

There are also ways to make junk that can be up to 7m+ profit per 1m spent.
