    it's Slayer, and it isn't that old. Fairly new metal if you ask me. You should change the topic name, since Slayer isn't heavy metal.

    Well it's one of the longest existing "metal" bands. they've existed for over, what is it, 20 years? Albums like "Haunting the Chapel" originate from 1984.

    Metallica, Venom, Anthrax, Megadeth, Metal Church, Exodus, Testament, Whiplash just to mention a few early bands. There are tons of them.

    hell no. Venom still plays, however the only original member still in the band is Chronos. I saw them here in sweden not long ago, a few weeks perhaps :)
