What's wrong with todays music

The "problem" with today's music is that it is a much more accessible industry for the average joe blow who releases some songs he made on his computer and the absolutely suck ass and it makes it more difficult to find artists and songs worth listening too.

 

PLEASE listen to rock n roll.. seriously that's the best damn music

nowadays we get a shitty gaga who dresses how she sings (terrible) and we get this kid named Justin who hasn't hit puberty yet at like age 18..

their vocals are alright but then you get rap which blows dick.. and the rap that's added to their songs or their 'beat' sucks and is terrible!

 

What is wrong with todays music is it's just not good. Rap music, anyways. Hip-hop used to have a message, but now what you hear on the radio is washed-down bullshit, that is pretty much Pop. Every song is about how much money they got, how many chicks they pull, or what kind of car they have--basically, all songs bragging about material goods.

I like real-life emotion in music, not this fake ass shit. And this is why I listen to underground hip-hop, & instead of turning the radio on, I just plug my ipod in.

 

Lady GaGa is innately talented. You might not like her stylistically, but she's an amazing singer/songwriter.

I blame the labels. They sign sub par artists just on the basis of marketability.

 

There's nothing wrong with today's music. You're just listening to the wrong things.

 

Quit complaining. Sure it may not be "quality" but you have no right to judge others over their taste.

 

Well what's wrong with it is... Back about 10 or 12 years ago they gave someone named Dwayne Carter money. This would eventually lead to the end of rap, hip-hop, and the actually good artists' careers. They shoulda never gave that nigga money .

 

Its that society has been brainwashed into conforming with what most people like, e.g. mainstream. They get caught up in just wanting to be popular.

 

There is nothing wrong with today's music. Trust me on this. Back in the day, there was as much music as there is now bragging about material goods. We all have different tastes so what may be "garbage" to you is not "garbage" to others. It is utterly false that there is no meaningless music nowadays. I like some of what is produced today and its what I listen to. People are too mainstream, music isn't. If someone doesn't like something, others jump in the bandwagon. An example can be Justin Beiber.

Music now a days is not shit, people are just finding the wrong things. Most people make music need to have mainstream success, thats their full time job. Listen to most mixtapes.

 

new music on the radio is always going to be the most "accessible" most generic music there is, otherwise it wouldn't hit the charts wont sell well. My biggest issue with the radio is all of the generalizations there are .. the shit they push as being "country" music is just pop songs. The shit they push as "hip hop" is just shitty dance songs. The radio for most part is just pop song bastardizations of decent music. The only radio i listen to is NPR as they play lots of different music programs usually kinda late. Fuck the radio, i dont want my music to have to go through more redtape and get censored and changed before it hits my ears... i want the uncut uncensored un fucked with MUSIC. I have a HUGE problem with the radio nowadays . In the states "clearchannel" has a monopoly on just about ALL the radio stations, clearchannel is the enemy. People striving to make music to hit the radio have to make compromises in their original vision to make it "radio friendly" therefore we will NEVER know their original intentions.. its disgusting

 

I think it's just what people like and people don't like. There is nothing wrong with today's music, you just don't like it

 

I would say it is the message which is contained within the songs and a lot of songs are about the illuminati and devil worshiping and all that nonsense.

What are you talking about? Almost no new music has to do with "illuminati" or "devil worship".

 

tbh people complaining about how bad pop music is is about 100x more annoying then the actual music.

music is all about taste, if you like pop music that's played on the radio, who cares? just 'cause it doesn't have some infinitely deep message and is on the radio doesn't mean it's garbage, it's just not in your tastes

 

Qft. If you really look, there are still very talented bands/artists out there. They're just obviously going to be out-shined by what's popular these days which is unfortunately that beaver kid and the scary girl with the masks.

As far as the computer being an instrument, that's arguable. I'd be wrong if I said it wasn't "theoretically an instrument", but I think that it lacks the uniqueness and the soul that something like a guitar brings out. We could debate it all night, but anyone can push a button on a computer.

Even your computer couldn't hit that heartbreaking solo that Page could hit on that guitar. And it can't make you cry like Mike McCready can.
