Multiple Threads for the Same Business

I am posting here to provide my feedback on the topic of posting multiple threads for one store. The example that comes up right now is RSUltimate. They have 2 threads currently active in the Gold/Item Selling forum. I think that shops should be restricted to one thread each. It should not matter if it is a different original poster, when the shop is the same.

If we are to allow this, it opens the door for abuse. I could hire 10 people and have them all make a thread about my shop. Where is the line drawn? I think the best way to handle it is to simply restrict businesses to one shop apiece. Once again, I am not trying to target RSU, this should be a rule which extends across the entire market of Sythe.org.

Agreed. Anyone could start a shop with a few friends, and easily hold up 3-5+ slots on the forums, or as r2 said, just hire some trustworthy people to help you, and get them all to open a thread. 1 thread per shop, no exceptions IMO.

 

Agree'd. Tons of work in the market forums are done to reduce spam. And with this example, the only different thing is that on Graves thread he doesn't list Finn's contact info. Nothing against any of them personally, but I think the line should be drawn, and drawn clearly. To the OP, perhaps a PM asking for more info would suffice, as a similar suggestion about this has been put foward by video, and he got told to PM Finn.

 

Theres plenty of this going on outside of the Gold market. I agree with R2Pleasent and RProd. You work so hard to reduce spam but then people think of creative ways to go around it like this. This can also double the chance of scam as it is not just 1 owner anymore. Two separate threads two separate people. There should be a massive sweep of these threads and the users involved with should have BOTH threads closed.

 

Wouldn't this fall under Suggestions as well for spam reduction? Either way, this needs to be taken care of. I've seen people mention this is a variety of posts, but nothing seems to be done.

Agreed. We've always made it so you're only allowed one thread for your business. Although we haven't addressed it for all these new group businesses forming.

If this isn't prohibited, I'm going to go hire 5+ people. More threads means more exposure and therefore more business. It's a good strategy, you could make it so you appear as essentially the only business, but is it fair?

 

Finn has a thread and then theres another thread for the rest of the RSUltimate staff, being Grave, Gohan, and myself. We don't all work at the same time, so we're only bumping 1 thread at a time. Whats the harm?

 

I'd just like to clear it up why RSUltimate uses this structure.

People have different shifts, and they get paid differently, etc. For example Hahanerd sells his own stock and pays me a portion for the secure form, while Finn likes having his own thread because it's easier to manage his share of the customers. It's not like we bump the threads to where they're on the same page during one person's shift: we usually have one per shift.

Either way, the same amount of customers are attracted for that time period as there is only one person on duty at a time.

 

''RSUltimate'' is a collective offering a number of different things. Whilst people like Gohan deal with all sorts of orders, I deal exclusively with gold orders. My thread is simply there so that people who wish to go through me specifically have an access point.

 

Having numerous threads is completely unfair to other users trying to sell their gold. As Nick said, the more advertisement the more business. I don't think there should really be any exceptions.

In regards to RSUltimate, hy not put all that information onto one thread? Simply design the thread in portions, and each portion is designated to each specific individual. I don't see why it'd be hard to list each person and what time zone he or she is in?

 

If you guys know anything about RSU, Grave actually mostly just offers his domain to highly-trusted Sythers to sell their own gold. His forms and checkout type is almost chargeback-proof.

 

I still don't get why you can't all just share one thread and bump it whenever it's your shift. And as for offering different services, that doesn't explain why you have multiple threads within the same section

 

At first I was agreeing with R2, but now that I see what you guys are doing it seems perfectly fine and fair. You guys aren't increasing business by having multiple threads, but simply bumping one thread at a time to show who is working a shift at the time.

They aren't benefiting from having multiple threads. What is the problem? Read what they posted.

 

Here we have 2 bumps from company workers in a thread other than their own. Your argument is not very convincing to say the least

 

A vouch isn't a bump the last time I checked.

 

When it's not for any particular trade, and when it's from a member of the same company, I'd say it is.

You do realize that even if you consider the vouch a bump, Finn was the only person that was delivering at the moment and both "bumps" were on the same thread, therefore if there's multiple threads, only one of them got bumped at the time. So even if we had one thread, it would have the same outcome.

and for what reason? There's a reason for us to have multiple threads but no reason not to.


Having multiple threads allows us to:
1) Make it easier to manage sales based on who's selling what
2) Allow us to switch shifts and lets people know who's on and who's not

(edit) On an added note, just because different sellers to use the RSUltimate form to sell their stock of gold, it doesn't mean we're all the same person. As I mentioned before, Hahanerd provides his own stock so he is entitled to his own thread. He just uses RSUltimate's form to prevent himself from chargebacks as I have permitted him to do so. Finn wants people to contact him directly for his shift, and would like to stay separated from the RSUltimate model. He also gets paid differently than Gohan and Cskiffingt1. If we combine all these threads into one, it will have no effect other than making us more confused on who's doing what.
