I was wondering if we could get some kind of lite-surf that we have an option of using in our profiles at sythe. What It is is it takes away avatars and sigs and generally the frills of the site and makes it faster for slower connection users. The only reason I am interested because sythe is slow in the first place, and I just was wondering if this would help a little.
Good idea, I support. On one of my computers, it takes two minutes to load all of the pictures/images on a larger thread.
I suggest buying a new computer. Now days a decent computer and an ADSL or broadband internet connection costs you a whole bunch of fuck all. So how about you just FIX it at YOUR end ?
No, Sparky you're wrong. I know of some phpBB forums that have done this and it's great. However, Sythe would have to be the one to install it. Also, it takes the WHOLE of people's sigs away, not just the pictures. We gotta keep the sigs people Although, yes it would make the forum run a lot faster.
I'm sorry Phil but I must concur, on this computer alone, I only get a 500 kbps download and upload speed, and I have no problem with pictures loading at all. Only when people post a large amount pictures in threads is when I have problems. Everything is fine as it is. For those who don't know. 500kbps Download/Upload is horrible. My RAM usage per year is more than most people here, and my whole computer is ran on stock components. Do you guys have internet worse than mine or what? I doubt it. To show how crappy my internet is at this house, I get about 500kbps DL/Upload on this computer while at my other house I get around 20000kbps Download and 7000-13000 Upload. (Yay for spoiledness) Also, can someone give me a link for the lite-surf mod/something similar for it for vB? I can't find one (Still looking) I can only find it for phpBB
Not many people have the spare money to spend on a computer, or a good internet connection. I mean I know its not hard to get a decent rig but you know just some people are just tight on money. No need to be an ass man it wont effect you unless you choose the option to.
