Since when the fuck did magic give defence exp?

WTF? I got 5 defence pking and didnt even fucking realise! Ice blitz gives def exp wtf?

 

If you're set to defensive casting then yes, obviously.

It's defensive casting that caused this problem and you should have checked before using it. The option has always existed in rs2.

 

Take it off defence casting I accidentally messed up my 1 def pure while at 84 mage trial and error :\

 

Definsive casting is like the controlled version of melle, it gives both mage and defensive xp

Oh man... I feel your pain.

I totally forget about defensive casting when I came back to RS this past summer, and so when I was training my magic to 99 by bursting Ape Atol skeletons, I got a nice surprise when after a half hour or so I gained a defence level on my barrows pure. Like WTF!

In all fairness, I believe they did change the layout... not 100% sure, but I seem to remember the "defensive" option being in your attack tab, whereas now there is a tiny little shield symbol in your magic spellbook tab that I did not even notice, and therefore feel like Jagex F'd me in the A. My memory could be failing me though..

 

You must have turned defensive casting on somehow :/

 

No shit sherlock, if you do use def casting you get def xp, easy as hell

 

You can always make it a... zerker/rune turm pure? Hope is still down the road

 

It took me a while to figure that out! I always remembered it in the combat style.. Cure you misclick!

 

This also got me sadly it gave me 2def on my pure. I has no idea it was toggled on or WTF it was untill it was to late..owell

 

Was doing dt for someone yesterday and I didnt realised I had it on and it got him 2 defence, I raged for a while lol

 

The three options in the Combat Style tab when weilding a staff are "Bash", "Pound", and "Focus" -- giving Attack, Strength, and Defence experience, respectively. When selecting a spell, nothing changes in the Combat Styles tab other than no option is highlighted in red. There appears to be a little shield in the [standard] spellbook which, when mouse-hovered over, reads "Defensive casting". Perhaps you toggled that on. The interface has changed several times since I've started playing, and even within the past few years, so it's understandable how something could have happened by not knowing all the trivial details about casting a simple spell.



Terribly sorry about 5 defense. I know how it feels.
