Amazing tut to installing the JDK and API Documentation (lots of pics :D)

    ------------------------------DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING THE JDK--------------------------

    1. Visit www.java.sun.com

    2. On the java.sun.com home page's right margin, look for something called Popular Downloads.

    3. Under Popular Downloads, look for a Java SE link. Select that link.

    4. You want to download the JDK version 6, so click the download button.

Look at the picture if you need more help finding the correct download button:

    5. After you have clicked the download button for the latest version of Java, (currently the JDK 6) you will see a screen that looks like this, except it wont have my writing on it :D

    6. While it is downloading I suggest going back to/ opening a new tab/window to the web page where you chose which Java you wanted to download. I will just give you a link: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp.

    7. Now that you know what I am talking about, scroll down on that page until you reach something callled "Java SE 6 Documentation" See pic for further reference.

    8. Download this file a little differently, instead of clicking on "Download selected with Sun Download Manager", just click directly on the link.

    9. Open My Computer and find the JDK file that you downloaded. The file is a bunch of random numbers - integrated.exe unless you named it otherwise :D. Double click the JDK file's icon.

    10. This step is all explained in the picture below:

    11. Once the Java setup file is done downloading find it in My Computer. Open up My Computer, and navigate to where you saved the Java setup file, should be "C:\Program Files\Java" unless you edited the file path by clicking File ==>Options.

    12. Just follow the steps in the picture below, and then wait.

    13. THIS IS ONLY FOR USERS WHO DOWNLOADED THE API DOCUMENTATION! So, if you downloaded the API documentation, unextract that file to the docs folder in "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0" or wherever you saved Java to. I take it you know how to extract files, but if you dont, here is a picture of how to extract files using WinRar.

    then

After unzipping the API Documentation, check to see if you have a folder named "docs" in your Java home directory. If you see this folder, then you are done. Congratulations! If not, then re-download the API Documentation.
