    The SoftMod and Jailbreak Guide

This awesome guide that I've been writing for my personal blog and maybe for starting a new Youtube channel, is for everyone with portable devices/consoles with no modifications at all (Hardware-wise) but they wish to run Homebrew on their devices as well as Game Backups, if you wish to share this guide please redirect other people to this article here at Sythe.org and do not copy my work anywhere else without my personal consent.
Please note that downloading game backups is illegal in most countries! It is not illegal to have the backup of a game that you legally own.
By following this guide you are not committing any illegal acts, but please note that downloading game backups is illegal in most countries! It is not illegal to have the backup of a game that you legally own.

    [IMG] Wii SoftMod
This console is rather easy to SoftMod and it is not a temporary (RAM Related) mod, this means you only need to do it once and your console will be modded for ever.
This guide software and Homebrew will be updated as soon as new versions come out, so all of you can get the latest versions of everything.

    Requirements:
    • Wii with firmware version 3.1 to 4.1 (Go to Wii Options and see in the upper right corner)
    • SD Card
    • A brain or a friend with one
    • A Wii without a D3-2 or D4 board. (To run DVD-R Burned ISOs (If your console does have these boards do not worry, you can load backups from an external HDD using an USB Loader) you can use Wii Drive Chip Database to check your board type by inputting your Wii's serial number)
    • These files: Europe [PAL] | USA [NTSC] extracted to the root of your SD (Download the ones for your region only)
    • Make sure WiiConnect24 is OFF
    • Remove all Gamecube controllers and memory cards

Step 1: Installing BootMii and The Homebrew Channel

    a) Download the required files (Europe [PAL] | USA [NTSC] (Download the ones for your region only)), insert the SD card in your console.
    b) Now all you have to do is go to Wii Options > Data Management > Channels > SD Card and a pop-up will appear asking "Load boot.elf?" and all you have to do is press "Yes" and the HackMii installer will start.
    c) Install BootMii as boot2 if it is available on the menu, if not install it as an IOS and then go back and install The Homebrew Channel.

Do NOT update the homebrew channel until the softmod is over!

    Step 2: Back up NAND
By making a NAND backup your Wii will be safe from bricking.

    a) Re-insert you SD card into your console if you removed it for any reason, if you installed BootMii on boot2 it will launch automatically when you turn the console on, if not, all you have to do is launch The Homebrew Channel and when you get to the menu press the "Home" button on your controller and select the option which reads "Launch BootMii".

    b) While using BootMii you will have to navigate using the Power/Eject/Reset buttons, if you press the reset button and the console actually resets, you'll have to keep pressing the Power Button and without letting it go, press the Reset button to move to the right. Now navigate your way to the menu with the gears (Settings). (If you cannot

    c)
At this point you must select the menu which shows a Green Arrow pointing up from a chip to the SD card (Its actually the first menu). Now your Wii will be backing up its NAND to the SD card. It takes about 10 to 20 minutes to complete and it is normal to have up to 100 bad blocks so don't worry.

    d)
When the NAND backup is complete it is advised to save it in your computer so you don't lose it, also if you had installed BootMii on boot2 you should rename or delete its folder from the SD card so it won't launch every time you power up the system.

    Step 3: Installing the CIOS
Now this step is a little tricky so follow the instructions carefully, because there a lot of details that cannot be missed.
    a) Go to Homebrew Channel and launch Trucha Bug Restorer. Load IOS36 and Press "1" and read all the warnings displayed, then select "Downgrade IOS15" and select "Load IOS from SD Card" and let it do its job.

    b) Load Trucha Bug Restorer again but this time you have to load IOS15 on the first screen, on the second menu you choose the option "IOS36 menu". The next menu you should make your options exactly as these:
And after checking that you have selected the right options, press "Install patched IOS36", let it finish and continue to step c).

    c) Load Trucha Bug Restorer for the last time but now select IOS36 on the first screen and on the second screen all you have to do is select "Restore: IOS15".

Step 4: Upgrading the System Menu
WARNING: DO NOT EXECUTE THIS STEP UNLESS YOU SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED PATCHED IOS36 FROM THE LAST STEP OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR WII!

    a) Open up Homebrew Channel and run WAD Manager and make sure the selected option is IOS249.

    b) Browse the SD to the /wad folder and install IOS60Patched.wad check that it installs with no errors and exit WAD Manager.

    c) Now run WAD Manager again and make sure the selected option is IOS249, browse to the /wad folder and install SystemMenu 4.1-*.wad (Being * your region, NTSC for USA and PAL for EUROPE), if you get any errors on this part don't worry, restart your Wii and repeat this step until it works.

    d) Exit WAD Manager and check that your System Menu version is 4.1 (You can do this by going to Wii Options and see in the upper right corner)

    Step 5 and FINAL: PRIILOADER
The PRIILOADER will also bee extra protection against bricks also, enabling the PRIILOADER hacks that block both online updates and game disc updates is important to prevent overwriting of the softmod and replacement of IOSes with nonfunctional stubbed versions.

    a) Open Homebrew Channel and launch "PRIILOADER" after it loads press "+" button on the controller to install it. After the installation is you Wii should reboot and load PRIILOADER if it does not load it by default do not worry, shutdown your Wii and turn it on by pressing the ON and RESET button simultaneously.

    b) Now that we are on PRIILOADER's menu select "System menu hacks" and enable "Block Disc Updates" and "Block Online Updates". Select "Save settings" and wait for confirmation message to display "Settings saved", press "B" to go back and now select "Settings" now set "Autoboot: System Menu" and set "Return: System Menu" and now go back to the PRIILOADER Menu.

    c) In the PRIILOADER menu select Homebrew Channel, run WAD Manager, use default settings (IOS249 & SD card) and install these wads from the "/wad" folder by this specific order:

Then restart your Wii and you are DONE!
You will now have the safety/hacks of Priiloader & Bootmii, NeoGamma R8 backup loader, cIOS249 r17, IOS38,IOS53,IOS55,IOS56,IOS57 and 58 for newer games and IOS50 for preventing disc update bricks. If you ever need to access PRIILOADER turn it on by pressing the ON and RESET button simultaneously.
