ell, I've said it before, but people have established that there are only four genetically distinct "races" in the world. Skin color has nothing to do with race - race is determined by the shape of one's skeleton (particularly the skull, have you heard of Craniology?).
So anyways, people fall under either Caucasoid, Mongoloid, Negroid, or Australoid, or some mix of these groups.
Caucasian, contrary to popular belief, does not exclusively mean "white". The crainological characteristics of the people of Europe are shared with Persian people of the Middle East, Semites of North Africa, and India/Pakistan's indigenous populations. See, for example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasian_race (first paragraph).
Mongoloid includes Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian, Korean, and other East Asian peoples, and _possibly_ native American people.
Negroids are (as you might have guessed) people from the part of Africa south of the Sahara desert.
Australoids are people from Indonesia, Papua/New Guinea, and the indigenous populations of Australia and New Zealand.
I am of Indian origin, and as such, fall under the Caucasoid group (though many Indians are partly mixed with Mongoloids from Nepal/China as well). I find that the two races that I am descended from (Cauc & Mong) are the two most diverse of the four, and the two that have accomplished the most historically. I am proud of both these ties.
