Props to Govind for all the work hes done recently. Regular users wouldn't be able to see it or even notice the changes for the most part, so I'll outline them for you.

1. Hes taken the time to completely redo the way bans are requested by Sectionals, by creating a script that Globals+ can access via ModCP where we can view a ban queue and simply click the users name and ban them. Traditionally they would be posted in a thread and we'd have to manually ban them by navigating to the ModCP and filling out the ban page. It easily only takes a quarter of the time now.

2. Hes implemented a new "ban lookup" system for us where we can very easily find a users ban reason, date, banning moderator, etc. Matthew released one beforehand which was a step up from our old method, but it was rather basic. Before any of these ban lookup systems we had to navigate through a list of bans, which totaled around 70 pages with 300-500 bans per page. Needless to say this system was very much needed.

3. On top of that, hes implemented a new system whereas Globals can essentially complete a recovery thread, with the help of a recovery request system. All we have to do is fill out a few fields in the system within the ModCP, and hit the request button. At which point, an admin can come along and verify the request. This should, in theory, vastly speed up the time it takes for a recovery request to be fulfilled.

I'm sure I've missed some things you've done, but I have outlined the big ones, and keep in mind this has all been done very recently.

He definitely puts more work in around here than he gets credited for, but I for one am appreciative.

This is generally true, a lot of my contributions are useful, were time-consuming to create, yet visible only to the staff. There are even some that are visible only to other admins, and then other that are visible only to upper admins.

 

I just wanted to reaffirm Corey's feedback about Govind. Frankly put Govind is fucking awesome. He has literally made it a two click process to answer ban requests now. Completing the ban request thread used to take me quite some time (Checking the thread, opening a tab to modcp, going to ban users page, banning each and every user, which requires entering each user's ban reason + name, then deleting, then archiving the posts)... I can now basically complete the ban queue in less than a minute by clicking. Thanks Govind.

Thanks! a smoother running system on the site makes for happier users, regardless of whether we actually notice what's making it smoother or not

 

You're doing really well!

You should fix the issue that when a banned user sees the banned screen and it links him to the dispute forum but he's not able to access it. Fix it or give the advice to clear the cookies.

Oh man, that would be a huge fix. I'm sure all the banned users would be vastly thankful...


But yeah, Nick is totally right - That screen is very confusing and annoying for a lot of people (often the reason they vade), fixing it would be enormous brownie points
