Simple idea.

When somebody quotes you, you should have the option to be notified by e-mail/private message on sythe. Another idea I had was to have filters on this service, I.E you could make it so that you would be only notified if a moderator,administrator etc quoted you. Maybe you could be only notified if a certain user quoted you.

This would make debating/answering questions easier.

Once again, you would have the OPTION of this service.

I don't know how the whole coding etc works, so if this idea's un-doable then scrap it.

 

It would have to be an option that you could toggle on or off, or I would be flooded with notifications.

It definitely should be toggle-able. Otherwise people with no lives, like me, would quote a lot of people just for the savage, sadistic pleasure of bothering them.

Alright I'll re-explain.

What I am suggesting is that when someone quotes another person, they should be notified via e-mail/private message on sythe.org.

The point of this is to tell the quoted person that they have been quoted, and when you are quoted it is normally because someone is asking you a question or debating with you. Thus my idea would make answering questions/debating a lot easier.

Another idea I had regarding this idea is to make this service toggle-able on and off, even filtered so that you could be only notified if a moderator,admin even a certain user quotes you.

 

It's possible... Sythe is already slow as it is, and having PMs sent while you post is not something I need.

It's a decent idea, but it really isn't necessary. If you expect people to quote you in a certain thread, then you're better off subscribing to the whole thread itself.

Wanting to be notified whenever someone quotes you is acting somewhat paranoid, no?

That's the purpose of subscriptions.

 

They inform you of everything on the thread, this would inform you only when you were quoted.

 

i agree... some times ppl can change your words... and quote another idea...some ppl (like me ) dont like to check the quote..

 

i know what you are talking about, its like on youtube where if you send a comment on some1's video, you may want to see what people think about it so if some1 replys to you then you can go to your message inbox on youtube and go2 video comments and it will say something like "Reply to your comment on blablabla" then you click on it and you can see what people said about your post.... Overall i like the idea and hope it gets approved =]

 

Yeah that's what I had in mind for this idea to acheive. Makes it so much easier to reply to people, instead of having to go through every video that had a comment posted on it that you were notified of.
