    Quitting gambling

Hey all, just thought I would create a little self motivational post I guess you could call it.
For months and months I am gambling in one form or another every single day nearly! I need to put a stop too this. There was a point where I barely gambled at all but lately it's just out of control. It's literally too the point where I am robbing myself of all my enjoyment, I don't even have the desire to play computer games because gambling is the only game lately. Why play normal games when you can play with your money like a loser right? >.<

It's funny i'll take a break from Stake or gambling websites and then i'll just find myself purchasing hundreds of dollars of runescape gold and gambling that on websites to trick my mind like i'm being responsible, and not actually gambling.

Regardless, another $1000 canadian gone in 5 minutes on stake tonight. How many times do I have to lose 1-2k in a day before it sinks in, it's a losers game. It's controlling my mood, everything..

It's so depressing losing all this money, going to try to put a stop too it. Got one of those daily reminder/day counter apps to keep track of my progress. Such a horrible addiction.

Wish me luck, i'm doing this for real, sick of it !!

Good luck man. You got this for sure. One suggestion I can make is try to work out or do something fun whenever you're getting that urge to gamble. Get your mind off of gambling by doing something with friends or traveling etc. Replace gambling urges with positive things to do.

It sounds like your gambling habits are addictive, and for that reason, do not hesitate to ask for help. Whether a family member or close friend, even someone on here would not mind talking to you about your gambling. With that said, I hope you can quit cold turkey or stop to the point where it isn't as painful.

I highly recommend that you don't try to beat this problem on your own, or by posting about it here. Go further. If you haven't already, seek professional help. They're trained to help you and have experience in doing so. This is where your best chances are. Don't feel ashamed, you're not the first and last person to have an addiction and suffer from it. You're not alone.

Thanks for the support everyone I really appreciate it!
So far so good, haven't done any gambling and it feels great. I also self excluded myself from the sites that I normally use which is a great help as well.

    Just a personal update/note:

Haven't gambled in legit online casinos since this thread, deleted my accounts. changed passwords, etc.

Although still not perfect.. gambling runescape gold and crypto, same thing really... Deposted 200m on a site today, got it up to 5.5b and lost it all... how lame.. how depressing.. what a fun sucker gambling is.. makes me not want to actually even enjoy games for what they are, I have to throw a wrench in it..

Anyhow.. take 2 - Action! Time to give it another go, definitely improved in the last couple months, i'll blow hundreds, not thousands now so that's good lol... time to try to reduce it to zero/very minimal.

I hope everyone has a great week, and if you find yourself struggling with with gambling I hope this post helps give you a little motivation as well, it's not worth it. <3

Just play low stakes tournaments my guy. You dont need to quit. I win most of my tournaments at low stakes but never anything major. I dont really even go for bigger tournaments. I think the issue is some people want to turn Poker into a Job instead of an Opportunity. If you see it as a way to make quick cash now instead of needing to make more and more, you may like gambling more. But some people do need a break from it.

Sure am sick of it, quitting isn't easy.. Nothing like having a 5.6B balance and losing it all instead of with drawling it and selling the gold like a normal human would do.
I sure do beat myself up and my bank account. Gambling is depressing man ! No i don't "gamble for fun, $50 dollars the odd weekend" .. that is not how I gamble, that doesn't do it for me. I go to extremes until I end up making a silly post like this here!

Anyways, i'm trying again. I'm making this post to start keeping track of my progress, hopefully if anyone else is struggling it helps you too!

Day 1 - it's a start, feeling hopeful.. slightly happier already.

Not sure how I convinced myself into thinking gambling was a good idea again, but it's been over a month since my last post and it did not go very well, maybe a few days.
It's easy to say you are going to quit when you lose a lot of money, just maintaining the abstinence is the hard part, just like anything else in my experience.

Anyhow i'm taking another approach at this and more seriously this time. It may seem like an even more difficult task but I have to cut out everything, it's just the way I am. Today is May 4th and it has been a great first day!

Not only am I trying to quit gambling all together, were going to give the drinking and drugs another go as well (my life story) .. It's all linked together for me and it needs to be done a day at a time with the help from others. I'm including the right people in my life and going to try to keep out of trouble ... and most importantly bring all those beautiful feelings back to the surface, tired of being a zombie/loser.

    So once again..

Day 1 - First day was tricky to make the initial commitment (throwing away all my weed, clearing my mind.. not playing the blame game) but I did it, only a few hours left for my first 24. I'm confident this time, I will be returning to this thread within the week with another update for the better. I have had a couple people reach out to me in this thread and through my inbox about how they can relate or how it may even help keep them motivated and I appreciate that ! Okay, check back soon.

Day 5 - Well this feels good! My previous posts didn't make it much further than the "Day 1" status. Day 5 today almost in the bag, clean & sober and no gambling.. feels good man. Recovery can be quite the journey with lots of ups and downs but I am glad I am giving it another go. Actually having appreciation for money again, it doesn't have much value when you are gambling every day, especially when you are losing.

Back to work tomorrow for the week and you know what, i'm not actually dreading it! It sucks going to work when you lost 500 bucks the night before, what's the point right? It's the small wins like this, feeling much better and will keep at it *flexes bicep* Thought i'd pop in with a quick update :)

You got this mate. It’s a hard addiction to get out, same as any other. I was finding myself betting about 60% of my wages in the past but luckily that moment has passed now.
I still however can’t watch football(soccer) without putting on a bet, luckily only £5 or £10 now.

    Quitting gambling

I remember i used to stake in my risk fighting days (i didn't do big stakes, but the money still had value to me cause i was young). A friend of mine quit because he started properly grinding, so i took his advice and quit gambling. The only thing that really matters, is the first week, here's why:

Gambling is addictive and your brain has a habit of chasing what's lost, because we don't like to "lose". That's a very admirable trait of us humans, but in some cases it just doesn't work out and this is one of them. I would advise you to simply take a week off the pc and do some fun things irl with friends/family. Perhaps talk with them about your losses and let them know how you feel about it; we all make mistakes and there's nothing wrong with that Jeffo! After that week i'm pretty sure that you won't feel the urge to gamble anymore, because you will start to realize there's other things than gambling and burning your money away that are also a lot more fun.

Remember; Gambling puts you on a very weak foot emotionally, especially if you're trying to chase losses. Us humans are simply emotional creatures that want things to go our way and with gambling you're basically "hoping" on the possibility that it's going to go your way. I've always felt like gambling made me insecure, because i'm not considered dumb so why would it make sense for me to do something 50/50 whilst i can make good money with stuff that i have way more odds on?

Just ask yourself a few serious questions and show some composure, it's a hard addiction/habit to get rid off but it's going to be worth it! Goodluck @Jeffo , you got this :)

Edit: Just noticed you've already quit for 15 days, you're doing an amazing job. Keep it up!
