    Question for Interstellar fans

Ok so I know i'm so fucking late but, I watched it recently and I have a question.

When Cooper is in the 5th dimension (the book thingy/blackhole) he's transmitting NASA coordinates to himself (Cooper in the past). And also giving Murph the planets data through morse code on the watch. Now he would not be able to do this if he weren't in the 5th dimension, right?

But the ONLY reason he is in the 5th dimension is because of what he does in the 5th dimension (giving HIMSELF the NASA coordinates)

    EXPLAIN THAT.

I spoke to Chase about this, he's crazy about the movie..

    His answer: Paradox
Example: If you were to go back in time to kill your Mother before she gave birth to you, you would never be born. But if you were never born, your Mother would never be killed.

LIKE WTF. I get it and all but seriously there has to be a better explanation
Can anyone explain it simpler or an alternative theory of how cooper's exactly in that dimension

    EDIT: another small question

How is Cooper in 2 places at once when he's 1. shaking Dr brand's hand while travelling through gargantua (Black hole) 2. in the space ship with Dr brand witnessing her, shake his OWN hand?

    That's the simple explanation, it's a paradox.

So it being a movie means any discussion is redundant?

FYI It's based off real science theories lol

    Good observation.

I think I recall something in the movie referencing "Them". As in, They created this dimension in a way that we could understand time.

Perhaps the very first time, someone else had guided Cooper to do those things.

Time and different theories are all altered in the different dimensions. Humans can't understand how it works, so it would be classified as a "paradox" but if you were one of those beings in the movie then you would probably know how.

    Question for Interstellar fans

I think the idea is that time has no meaning to 5D beings and that in the 5th dimension every possible timeline of everything that happened and will happen is occurring simultaneously. So to 3D beings like us it looks paradoxical because it seems like there were future actions were necessary for past actions but there actually is no paradox.

Or at least that's how I viewed it, I could be completely wrong

The movie is great, watched it with my girlfriend. Amazing how much thought went into the plot, and how we're still sitting here with questions like these.

    Question for Interstellar fans

I was thinking the exact same thing after i watched it like no joke

But when he arrived at the coordinates didn't they say that he was the most qualified pilot to go through with the mission? So doesn't that mean that they were going to ask him to go on the mission anyways in which he would have gone to, it just would have been a different series of events? So basically he knew that either way they would have contacted him to fly the spacecraft thing, so he left the sign in the sand just as more evidence to push his daughter in the correct path of "saving the world"?

idek if that made any sense

    Question for Interstellar fans

    YO! :D

Also, I've heard a theory recently that the beings that helped were simply humans from another timeline or "parallel universe" who crossed through to ours via the 5th dimension, just to help us for no clear reason.

    IDK though.

He's right. The whole reasoning behind the twist is off of baseless information. It's meant to mind fuck you to keep you talking about the movie lol. It doesn't take much thought to realize what was happening is illogical. The movie was interesting nonetheless.

Was it Cooper that created the wormhole and allowed them to warp space and travel long distances or was the wormhole just a god given thing?

I second Ghast's comment. It's a movie. A good one, too. There doesn't have to be a rational explanation for everything that happens.
