Question about using a second monitor

I use a laptop and I connected my monitor that I used to play xbox on, as a second display. I moved some of my icons to the second monitor but every time I turn off my laptop, they get moved back onto the laptop display.

Is there a way I can lock them to the second display?

    In regedit go to:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

    Then create Key "Explorer"

Add new DWORD value "NoSaveSettings" and set to 0

    To be safe, export:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\

    and call it noSaveSettingsRestore.reg

Now reboot and the problem is solved.
