    Question about Thread Titles

Does staff dislike the requests they get for changing thread titles? Do you guys get a lot of those requests and does it affect (effect?) how much time it takes to go through all the reported posts? Just wondering, because if it is maybe we can find a way to improve staff efficiency by changing that somehow. I'm not saying to allow people to change their threads because I'm pretty sure that's in the DNS list, but maybe not allow thread title changes? I don't know.. input?

EDIT: Also, it's not really a suggestion. More so a question for staff as to how they see the requests and if it bothers them at all. If it's in the wrong section, kindly move it and apologies beforehand for that.

    Question about Thread Titles

I prefer them as they're quick and easy to do.

Many users PM me requests to change titles rather than report their thread. I don't get any modscore for doing so, but it's not really the best way to judge a Staff member.

    tl;dr
    They're fine.

    Question about Thread Titles

It does get a bit like wtf? when people update titles after every vouch (exaggeration) but a spam report is a spam report and they all essentially take the same amount of time and attention so not really a biggy imo

    Question about Thread Titles

No sense edging around what you're really questioning.

Whether people should be able to change their own thread titles. My answer is absolutely. 99% of the time changing the thread title won't lead to any obstruction of evidence. Compare that to the amount of requests moderators must handle and the added wait time for the end user and you have a very solid reason to change the rule.It doesn't matter if moderators are fine handling it or not, it'd still be beneficial to the user if this was changed.

Make it a donor perk, if someone abuses it they can get an infraction. That dramatically would reduce people putting misleading thread titles. Serious abuse would mean the privilege revoked.

Heck, even letting regular users change their thread titles doesn't have any downside. They can be just as misleading in the body of their actual text. Evidence isn't really obstructed by changing a thread title, that's a poor argument.

I'd like to hear more input from others, but I do feel confident in my position.

    Question about Thread Titles

In the very rare case that a dispute is tampered with there is always a way to look back. Either have the system show thread title edits, or wayback machine, etc.

This is a legitimate reasoning. My counter would be to make this a donation perk. Introduce a time limit, etc. Something that doesn't take much programming to introduce and makes things easier from our perspective.

    Question about Thread Titles

A lot of donors so it wouldn't make too much of a difference. Plus then there's permission group/usergroup problems that Matt's said he's not keen on doing before.

Then if only select donors could change their titles we'd still be changing titles for others so it doesn't really solve the issue of this thread.
