Question about graphics card and resolution

    Hey guys,

recently I built my own PC, I got an asus motherboard that comes with a Intel HD Graphics 4000 2GB video card

    I bought i5 3570k processor
    16 GB RAM

and a nVidia gt 630 4GB is coming on saturday.

But for the moment I'm using the default intel video card.

For monitor I'm using a SyncMaster that allows me to get 1680 x 1050 resolution, but my computer is crashing like crrrazy since I got this monitor, first it gets crazy with a lot of colors, then it turns one color, yellow and cyan most of the times and then it just turns off the pc.

    Now I'm using 800 x 600 res L0l, just in case till it's saturday.

Anyone knows if this is the problem that the graphics card does not support that much res, or is it the pc?

    thanks!

    Are you overclocking at all?

My only guess is to remove/delete all graphics drivers, and the re-install them from the manufacturer website (Intel).

Nope, the PC is less than a week old.

    I'll try that

That sounds like an issue with the card, it honestly shouldn't be doing that since the 4000 can handle resolutions beyond that.

Since you're getting the nVidia I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much though.

Question about graphics card and resolution

Have you made sure the cord is in place properly? And that the cord is genuine without any problems?

I remember that if I messed around with the VGA cord while it was in use, then the screen would be turning different colors of sorts.

Ok, I solved the problem, and I barely know how lol.

First after 3 or 4 times, I managed the pc to detect the screen and won't turn off haha, after that I opened BIOS just to check the temperature, I closed it and restarted the pc.

When it started, it asked if I wanted to go on repair mode or normal start up.

I used repair mode, it repaired problems and now works perfectly L0l.

I also installed the newest version of the card just in case.

    Thanks a lot :D
