Effects of Marijuana

Nowadays, Marijuana is a very big topic that everybody is discussing.
I am fully aware that there are lot of threads about it on this site as well.
But this thread is not about debating about it should be legalized or not, it's about the effects of Marijuana.

The reasons that I am starting this thread is not only so that people can share knowledge of what weed can do to your body, but also to hear and learn from people who actually know about it, not through what they have heard or read from others, but from what they have learnt in their chemistry and/or biology classes.

I will start:
When something is combusted in a enclosed space that lacks enough oxygen, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) will be replaced with Carbon Monoxide (CO) as a by product. Marijuana is not an exception.

Carbon Monoxide is a unstable compound, as its orbitals continuously hybridize and de-hybridize, constantly changing the bond between the carbon and oxygen from a single to a double bond and back. Because it is unstable, it kills your brain cells.

Now this is just what I know so far, I'm still learning.
So please; if you're going to prove me wrong, do it through chemistry and biology. Thank you.

Marijuana activates the Cannibinoid Receptors in the brain which have been known to slow reaction time and impair judgement.

 

Can you cite any studies that support your claim?

 

Marijuanas effects on my body, from experience, not study, is;

hunger, enhanced taste buds, fatigue, mild-extreme paranoia, lack of judgement, happiness, the desire to smoke more, and some others.



As for the addictiveness of marijuana, I will state exactly what my friend stated to me before I started smoking in the 8th grade, many many years ago.

"Weed isn't addicting, it just has magical abilities. And once people find out these magical abilities, they just want more."

I will and have stood by this statement for the remainder of my life.

 

Do some research before posting information that you claim is accurate? I've never heard of any studies that support your conclusion.

 

It's what you learn in more advanced chemistry courses.
If anybody here needs to do any proper research, it's you. Your knowledge of this subject is superficial.

You could have easily found any of my information if you had googled it or searched it up on wikipedia.

 

I'm sorry, but I don't think taking advanced chemistry courses qualifies you as a more reputable source than those who have done actual experiments on this topic.

 

People get schizophrenic from Marijuana, it is a bigger chance to become schizophrenic if someone of your relatives are schizophrenic.

 

Then they were both already predisposed to have schizophrenia.

 

Does that mean it will give me schizophrenia if I take it?

 

Not necessarily. It's effects are different for everybody.

Like Jim Morrison said, "drugs are a bet with your mind". It's up to the individual to decide whether they want to take a chance with them. Some will like it, others will be frightened and never touch the stuff again.

 

weed only unhinges schizophrenia in those who already have an underlying condition of it.

we have had this whole debate before.

 

how do you smoke pot without taking in oxygen ? i challenge anyone to do this.

The reason why people think it kills brain cells is because of a test done in the 70s they pumped pot into monkeys via gas mask for 5 minutes with no oxegon. So they lost brain cells and died because they were not able to breath. NOT THE POT!

they gave monkeys 100% marijuana smoke through a gasmask in order to prove that monkeys brain cells died.

big deal, we all know that, without a good oxygen supply, brain cells die

 

Not entirely true. This only happens if you have underlying signs of schizophrenia.

 

5 minutes without oxygen will kill you, so unless they did monkey CPRs those monkeys were dead as hell. Therefore the test is invalid, kill dank made a great post that he linked to. I suggest everyone to read it. He links to several reputable sources.
