    China, emerging superpower.

Often you can see on the news, the United States does not trust the People's Republic of China over many matters, whether it is economical or security and vice versa.

There are fears China will rise to challenge the United States militarily and economically within 50 years. What do you think?

    Emerging?
They always have been a superpower,
If they were to challenge us militarily alone, We'd crush them.
What we need to be worried about is an alliance of Russia and China, And possibily other countries in the region, Seeing as America has burned alot of bridges over the years.
    Economically?
    They already are.

    Politically? Atomic Diplomacy.

    Economically? We're fucked.

Well you have relevant points, but china being a superpoer can be hotly contested. Right now most people only recognise the United States as the sole superpower. Countries such as Russia, China, India, Japan, Germany, France, Britain are seen as emerging superpowers.

No need to worry too much about China or any other country for the matter. America has burned bridges which has been stated above, however American is repairing/rebuilding those bridges.

As of now other counties are gaining vast power. The United States is also getting stronger with reform. We are no longer ruling with an iron fist but with a chisel.

I doubt we (Americans) will go under anytime soon. We are Americans, born leaders!

    China, emerging superpower.

Russia at one time were a superpower, That all died with the downfall of the USSR.

Germany was a superpower under the rule of Adolf Hitler, Mainly due to the conquests, And the vast natural resources that the conquered lands had provided.

Japan was also a superpower during the dynasty era, With the aid of the Mongols and such.

India never was, And never will be a superpower, They simply don't have the money and firepower to be considered a superpower, Perhaps a religous superpower, But never a military or economical superpower.

France perhaps has the ability to become a superpower within the next 50years, But I believe major reform of the government and policies will need to take place for any REAL superpowerism to come to France.

Britain are in essence a joke. They never will be a superpower with the line of monarchy they have. They also need more natural resources and a more extensive military, At one time in history they had the best Navy in the world, Now it's dimminished significantly, With the overthrow of the monarchy and a new ruler at the head of the British people, I believe acheiving superpower will be extremely hard, But not impossible.

They could become one, but never a truly powerful nation in till they give their citizens rights of life, political freedom, freedom of speech, and other rights. Along with the limits on births a family can have, (1), it will take a long time.

I do believe that China will be nearing us for a long time until we can get our economy straightened out. Even though we are doing dreadfully, some of our numbers trump China with great ease.

I do not believe that China will, in any way, attempt to "challenge" us in any way. The ages of war is over. The next World War will be the last, and no one will be winning. I think everyone can see that.

China's military will never even be close to ours.

But Economically China has the upper hand.

What im worried about is these Chinese hackers that have been in the electric posts. If china turns the power off, were screwed.

What do you mean by electric posts?

China's airforce and Navy does have limitations compared to the capabilities of the United States.

Economically, China is growing at a faster rate even with the recession than the United States growth rate but the United States still has a GDP much higher than the figure's produced by China

India has the second-fastest growing economy in the world, and it was what you would consider a superpower before the Brits ruined everything.

Well, a lot of people fail to realize that China has bought out a large chunk of our economy over the years...

Actually no. The second fastest growing economy in the world is Azerbaijan.
India is the 17th fastest growing economy in the world in terms of increase of GDP %.

India was never a superpower. They never went to war with any countries/won and did not possess the technology at any time in history to be one either

    Wrong. >_<

China has been considered a superpower for many years now- in many different variations. The US is known as the ultimate superpower, but China has been known as one for an excess of time.

    India defeated Pakistan in 1947, 1965, 1971, and 1999.

In Ancient India (back when they spoke Sanskrit and before Muslims came to India), India was the only source of diamonds in the world and was the place where the Hindu-Arabic numeral system (only called Arabic because it reached Europe through Arabs) was developed. It once had a 31.5% share in global production.

As far as "technology" goes, nearly all of Europes are bastardized versions of Hindu, Arabic, or Sino-Japonic prototypes. Please DO YOUR RESEARCH.

This is the DUMBEST batch of people ever. Learn your god dam facts before even throwing stuff like that out. The US has more nukes, not a larger army.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_active_troops

Of course china has population problems and other such, but so does every other country.

And to the moron a few posts above, Russia was NEVER a superpower. It was the USSR. You fail to understand that the USSR included a much larger control with a DIFFERENT government, different borders, etc. That is like saying slovakia is the same as czechoslovakia, that the holy roman empire is the same as germany. USSR was the country that killed 20 million people in purges, the one that built up nukes, etc. The USSR broke up.

Yer I agree with the guy above, Russia was never a super power.

In my eyes China could already be bigger than the USA just they aren't very public about it.
