Help me decide on a netbook?

So I decided that I am in the market for a new laptop that is ultra portable(under 4lbs) or a netbook. The things I am factoring in are: weight, processor speed, and if its upgradable to 2gb/4gb of ram.

I know very little about hardware so for video cards and cpu's I usually just lookup the speed results on notebookcheck.

Looking for:

• 10-12.6in screen
• under $400
• under 4lbs
• decent processor that can handle virtual machines
• good battery life

So far all the processor of the netbooks like the N550 get notebookcheck results of 1,400. This i3 330UM gets about 3,000 which is double the processor speed of the N550 atom and looks like a better bang for the buck:

Any recommendations on what processor speeds I should be looking for, any laptops you recommend? Thanks!

Honestly though, you won't get a small notebook with a processor good enough to run virtual machines for around $400. The ones I picked would just barely run them alongside other programs. I suggest upping your budget, increasing the size, or lowering your standards. Small powerful and cheap is what everyone wants, but they're rare.

And the one you listed has barely enough RAM for the OS and a few chrome tabs.
