Pure range-Def, or not to Def?

I got a f2p pure range, with 27 combat, and 40 range. I accidently got him to 3 defence. Should I get it any higher? Also, should I do dragon slayer to wear dragon body?

Wait to raise def until you're at a higher cb lvl with higher range etc. Then get 20 def max if you wanna stay pure, or go straight for the 40 def at like 70+ range but you'll also have a hefty jump in cb lvls. So just be warned about that.

How about prayer? Its 1 right now, Is that worth getting up? I know it can be very expensive..

I'd recommend def to 70 for Barrows [Torags Helm] and prayer to 52 [Smite + Protect From Melee].
