I'm not into punk as much as I used to be but it's still something I listen to from time to time.

Yeah, theres a lot of facets to it if you look though. I really dig the protopunk and post punk here lately, its really just weird rock and roll!

I seldom listen to hardcore punk these days, I still appreciate it in moderation but I supposed i've mellowed with age. I like to keep it mixed up. Solid choices on YT, classics.

Same, it made me so sad. I saw the day it happened and it killed me. I was seriously depressed for 3 days. He was an inspiration for me. A goddamn hero.

Losing him, Lemmy, Bowie and Guy Clark the same year has made for a rough one.

What you been getting down to here lately? Ive been getting into grungy ass post punk stuff like mudhoney and zeke.

Thanks dude! I've been listening to punk rock as well as its derivative and roots genres for well over a decade, MTV used to be a music channel and for some odd reason pop-punk and subsequently harder "punk" became popular and by that I mean Rancid, Nofx, Lagwagon, Pennywise I skipped school when fuck world trade came out, that was when cd's meant something because napster, livewire ect were unreliable as hell.

I listened to a skatalites album for 3 fucking years thinking it was the specials. I dont miss those days. Post here more, its been 90% circle jerk.

Yea I noticed it was a bit of a circle jerk, not that many people are into punk. Plus there are not as many bands out there compared to more popular genres I found. I would post more but it looks as though most the bands I knew have already been posted.

Not sure if you consider any of this "punk" but since it's from proto onwards, I'm a fan of the Velvet Underground, and alot of post-punk like Echo & the Bunnymen and Sonic Youth.

Funny you mention sonic youth, evol is in my truck right now. Post-punk definitely belongs here as well, proto/pre/otherwise influential stuff too. Im actually getting realllllly into garage rock here lately. Skim the thread a bit more, I touch on a lot of different stuff. Maybe post some of what youve been listening too here lately?

Dude theres thousands and thousands of punk bands and a dozen or more unique sub-genres, keep digging! If there are any bands posted in particular you especially like maybe we can turn you on to some more in a similar vein??

Seeing a sick ass French Oi band tomorrow night! Pumped, been a long time since I shined up my boots and got down.

Oh fancy that then! Good then that's what I was hoping for. Yeah garage rock is really a good foundation of punk too. One in particular that I have heard before are "The Monks".
