How to safely verify a PayPal?

Some scammer tried to scam me, told me to log into his PayPal and reverse the payment I sent him, so I did, and I guess he's going to argue with PayPal that I hacked him and to refund him my payment that he scammed me for. So he has $60 in the balance but I don't trust putting my bank information on his account to unlimit it. He limited it purposely I think so I put my info in. Is there a way or can someone help me unlimit, or tell me how to without risking my bank information? I'm willing to share the money if I'm helped.

Put your bank information, otherwise he will most likely win the case. If he's verified and you aren't there is a small chance you can win. I'd suggest calling paypal and ask them the precautions of the limitation you've received. If you call them and explain to them what happened they will probably understand. If the limitation isn't permanent, you can apply your bank account to your account.

Remember to stay safe and next time someone asks you to do something like that, don't just do it. Think about why he may be doing that.

Was this trade for virtual goods? If so it'll be very hard for you to win the case. I'd seriously recommend calling PayPal and explaining your situation, calling them has always been the best way to handle things and they will listen to your side of the story. If you really need to verify your PayPal, you could always go to your local bank and create a new bank account - just for online transactions. I have one for online stuff and it was free for me in Australia.
