The fucking ignorance is unbareable

My mom basically caught me smoking some legal herb. She didn't see it or see me smoking it, but I was acting my suspicious and clearly trying to hide something and the room smelled like smoke.

Anyway, like 20 minutes ago my mom came up to me and was like "If you were smoking cigarettes...that's one thing...but if you were smoking some kind of pot...that would kill me..."

Cigarettes are probably like fucking 60000000x worse than weed? What the fuck is up with the ignorance of some people. I was about to fucking snap and go full-on debate mode with my parents right then and there.

I'm not going to go and admit that I was smoking weed/legal bud, but this shit is fucking ridiculous. Is there anyway I can convince my parents there is nothing wrong with weed, OR AT THE LEAST, convince my mom cigarettes are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worse than weed.

I'm fucking pissed.

Depending on your parents you could come back with the "Well what the hell did you do when YOU were my age?".

 

Give em the facts. There are plenty of resources available that you can use to show them that marijuana isn't as harmful as they think. Also, if it's legal herb... I don't know if you're 18, but if you are, there shouldn't be any reason for them to get that mad at you.

 

Maybe you could overwhelm her with facts by compiling them and printing them out. Dont forhet the statistics; numbers are very convincing.

^ This. Although smoking ciggarrettes is probably 10x worse for your body than smoking weed is, I'm sure your Mom is thinking more along the lines of "illegal substance/drugs" in general. My parents were the same way when I was young.. my jacket smelled liked weed and there was a lighter in my pocket, and so I must be out using drugs all day. I know that the ignorance can be infuriating sometimes as you want to just scream in their faces about how they have no idea what they are talking about, but that is hardly a solution to the problem.

Maybe when you get the opportunity you could try to educate your Mom a little bit about marijuana? I always wished I could have that kind of opportunity, and just recently (years later when it really would have counted) I got my dad to watch a documentary called "The Union" with me off Netflix. It really changed some of his views and opinions and weed. You just have to approach the situation in a calm/mature way and reassure your mother that a little pot is not the end of the world.

 

Although smoking weed is indeed not as bad as smoking cigarettes, if by legal weed you are referring to "spice" read the chemical list on these. These are made in a lab w/ alot of chemicals that makes them worse than weed. The quantity you smoke would probably not make it a direct danger (that shits expensive) but this smoked in cigarette quantity is just as dangerous.

 

Your parents obviously think that because it's illegal, it must be some sort of hard drug that'll kill you. Try and educate her on weed. There isn't much point of saying how bad cigarettes are because chances are they'll just agree with you but their opinion on weed will be unchanged.

 

You won't change your parents mind about weed, but as you say; it wasn't weed you were smoking, so just tell them what you were smoking and they shouldn't care if they don't care about you smoking cigarettes.

 

Just tell her what you were doing and parents just see that the substance is illegal and don't want their kids smoking it.

Wow man I have the same problem, I can't convince my mother that weed/hash is not as bad as cigarettes. I tried giving her facts but I guess as some syther's already pointed parents think more along the lines of "illegal=worse".

Try giving her the facts and if she doesn't believe just say you were smoking cigarettes since they don't seem to care.

 

I tried convincing my mother that weed was better than cig's. Your parent's will always believe anything illegal is worse than anything legal. It is true that cig's are worse because of the health risks, but alot of people smoke cigs and exercise and still do their work. Now I am not saying that you don't do your work or anything, but most people who tend to smoke weed end up habitually smoking it and then becoming lazy. Cig's are more addicting than cocaine, which is fucking ridiculous. This government's fucked up this world's fucked up stop smoking it to get away and start becoming a person to help this world get a tiny bit better. Don't tell your parents your getting high even if you want to? Ignorance is Bliss.

 

I smoke normal ciggerettes i smoked weed once but it made me while pale and sore head and white and sick for 2 hours smoked it too hard so im going to just stick to ciggerettes anyways the weed in irelands shit compared to stuff in england and america thats the big drug dealn places.

 

You need to explain it to them, then hopely they'll then explain to someone else.

OT: You obviously dont smoke weed heavily because weed is much worse then ciggies if you have a real addiction, it also makes you slow as fuck so how are smokes worse:? maybe for your lungs but thats it.

 

There is no such thing as an addiction to marijuana. Yea sure you'd like to get high, but you don't "need" it.

OMFG I just told my parents I smoke LOL my moms fucking crying and shit.. She told me my dad was an addict (to alcohol) and that he cheated on her but they stayed together for me.

Shit I'm kinda high right now and I don't know how to face that.

But why does she tell me when discovering weed. Idk shit wtf just happened.

 

Make her watch "The Union" great documentary and opened my moms eyes to marijuana. Still haven't told my dad cause he's completely against it but ignorance is bliss I suppose. Hope this helps.
