Problem with Korasi Sword

My friend just got a Korasi sword, but he has a problem. Every time he uses the special attack, he gets defence exp ... He's 75 defence, and wants to stay that way. His attack style is always aggressive, and, on his magic spellbook, he's tried toggling the magic defence exp both ways. Anyone know a way to not get defence exp? I've seen zerkers use the korasi sword, so there is definitely a way.

 

i use the attack status, and i dont gain def xp on my zerker

 

So the only way for him not to get defence exp is to use the attack style? =/

Its probably like some wepons have 2 different "str" styles, and maybe this sword only has one so when he switches its on a controlled style.
