When you donate how long does it take for them to respond to you? so you can get your icons (perks) and shows how much you donated on your screen.

Are you talking about bond holders? It doesn't take long at all. You may be catching them at the wrong time. They should be able to process your donation right after you pay them.

If you paid directly via paypal then it's instantly, you need to manually hide/show the donation ranks at user centre : http://sythe.org/usercenter/perks-ranks.html

 

However, direct PP donations are only available after at least $5 donation, being a member for 2 weeks, and 100 posts (someone feel free to correct me if the requirements are wrong)
