Besides a political standpoint? All the time. You may not notice it, but we do.

Disturbing another when they don't want to be disturbed is breaching their privacy.

Example: Entering a door without knocking. (There is a reason why the door is closed.)

Another example would be looking in someone's car while that person is in there.

    See where I'm getting at?

I knock. I would not consider cars that are out in public to be private spaces.

They were examples, you aren't suppose to nitpick it.

But I think that privacy should be respected and be the norm. If someone isn't doing that, they should be.

Being subjectively private is a great characteristic to have in 2014, lol

It is the norm, to an extent. If you go live down a 5 mile dirt road with no internet or phone, people aren't going to invade your privacy. If you put all of your personal info on two dozen sites, and are using a phone service, internet service, etc, each of those businesses has the ability, and -dare I say- the right (since you probably agreed to it in a terms&conditions) to monitor any use of their services.

Why should using basic communication devices give the business the right to invade your privacy? You need a phone in the modern age. You won't be able to find a job without one. So to actually participate in society, you are saying we must give up any notion of privacy? That is ridiculous.

It isn't an invasion of privacy, it's a forfeiture of privacy. For example, if you register on Sythe.org (or any site), the site administrators can see your email and IP address. Things such as vader checks will probably lead to staff viewing your IP address, being able to see who your ISP is, where you live, etc.

Now, the Sythe.org staff member isn't necessarily trying to invade your privacy. You are using Sythe.org, and the staff member is just doing normal site operations. You forfeit your privacy in this case. If you walk outside naked, you can't yell at other people for starting "OMG STOP INVADING MY PRIVACY". You can be inside your own house naked all you want, but once you go elsewhere, you are forfeiting that privacy.

I should not have to forfeit my privacy to use a telephone.

Using a phone doesn't let the phone company put a camera in your bedroom so they can watch you sleep, it only lets them monitor/log anything that you do through that phone. They aren't invading your privacy, they are only maintaining their business. If you search up child porn on your phone, expect them to notice and report it to the authorities.

How is listening to private phone calls not invading my privacy? I think that is does by definition. I do not think you can argue it does not.

It's a realization you have to take into account when using someone else's business. If you don't like it, make your own telephone company. Customers don't have any right over things a business controls.

I disagree. I do have a right. Business should not be ruling the world.

To get a good idea of just how much information isn't private these days I highly recommend the documentary film 'Terms and conditions may apply' it's on Netflix :)
