    Premise & Conclusions

So I'm currently learning about premises and conclusions and I'm still SLIGHTLY confused as to locating them when it comes to specific sentences (mainly premise). For instance, what is the premise and conclusion for this sentence: "Chances are I'll be carded at the Diamond's, because Sharon, Kenny, and Sherry were all carded there, and they all look as though they're about 30"

Also, the book talked about 'unstated premises'. What would be considered unstated premises in this situation?

    Premise & Conclusions

Premise: Sharon, Kenny and Sherry were carded at Diamond's and they look about 30.
Conclusion: Therefore, I'll probably be carded at Diamond's.
Unstated premise: I also look around 30.

Conclusions are the outcome or central claim of an argument. In this case they are trying to justify why they think they'll be carded. So the conclusion is that they think they'll be carded. In an arument for God's existence, the conclusion would be a varient of "So, God exists".
The premise is what the person puts forward to support this; you could have this example split to two premises also. "Sharon, Kenny and Sherry were carded at Diamond's" and "They all look around 30". As two separate statements. Premises are just statements.
Hidden premises or unstated premises are just things we would assume by reading the argument that aren't explicitly stated. We would assume the person is or looks around 30 if they're using 30 year olds being carded as a reason why they will be too.

To find the conclusion ask yourself "what is their point" or "what are they trying to prove" and then a premise is just a sentence put forward in support of this central claim or conclusion.

    Premise & Conclusions

So what's the difference between unstated premise and premise? Just hidden assumptions?

EDIT: Thank you for that in-depth explanation!

EDIT x2: THANK YOU PROFESSOR ROARY!
