    Character Leveling –

I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t want this game to be similar to Runescape in quite a few ways, but one mainly. I don’t want to be good at the game, or have great items and lots of money, because I spend an extremely long time playing the game. I would rather be able to have a set max level that is not extreme, maybe takes 20 hours to accomplish from start to finish if its your first time playing the game, and would take 15 hours or less if you knew how to play already.

You can gain XP by killing monsters, doing group missions, and doing quests. Throughout this, you learn skills by accomplishing missions and beating quests, or you can buy skills once you have a skill point, which you earn by leveling up, and a small amount of money which you give to a skill trainer. You can then select a skill from a group of skills that you would like to learn. You lose your skill point however, and the cost for doing this goes up by a certain amount of money each time. The skills earlier in the game are simple ones, skills that aren’t very powerful - to learn the more difficult skills, you would have to travel through dangerous areas, and do extremely hard missions to get to outposts with the more advanced skill trainers and quests/missions. You would have to use team work to accomplish this – each person in your group would have to fulfill their part, or the team would die.

Depending on the area, each group would have a limit of members that could travel and fight outside of outposts together – this would depend on the difficulty of the area - the more difficult, the more people could be in a group. Throughout the game there are outposts, which are safe zones that have no monsters. There you get missions, quests, can buy armor, form a group, etc. I am unsure of how exactly to work out what happens when you leave the outpost – if the game is large enough, it should be a free roam world where you can interact with others, and be able to attack others. If the game is small, like Runescape, then you should be able to leave the outpost and then be in a zone with just your group and whatever NPC’s related to the quests/missions or that are trying to kill you.

    Skills -

Skills are crucial to the game. They are your powerful attacks or heals, stances and preparations, etc. As I previously mentioned, you learn skills by accomplishing missions and beating quests, or you can buy skills once you have a skill points. The best skills, known as Elites, would be learned by completing the later missions in the game. You could choose your Elite at the end of a mission, based on your race. You may only have two elites on your bar at a time.

Each skill will be under a certain attribute. To make the skill more useful, you gain attribute points when leveling, and you can put the attribute points into the skills attribute. You may, at a later time, take the attribute points out of that attribute, and put them in another. This makes for very flexible playing styles.

    Vision Ex's idea -

I read Vision Ex’s idea, and I agree with it, however would like to pose a few changes and added ideas. For this example, we will use the race of the Germaniens. You chose your race (Germaniens) then you go to a screen in which you must select your primary and secondary class. Your primary class would have an auto +5 attribute points in all attributes, and your secondary would not. For this example we will choose Warrior, and your secondary would be Monk. Now you are a Warrior/Monk, and have the ability to heal yourself, tank damage, and deal damage. You would first spawn in the Germaniens capital city, which could not be attacked by other races. You may then travel to other Germanien citys, doing missions/learning skills/etc. But, this is where the PvP aspect comes in – at any time, you may be attacked by a rival race, or you may attack another rival race. You can attack their citys, or simply groups of them wandering around. If you are to conquer a city, your would gain access to all the facilities of that city – be able to do its city specific quests, learn its city specific skills, etc. The race with the most cities controlled would gain some boon that I haven’t thought of yet. This would be like a strategy game, but with groups of other humans rather then just NPC’s that you control. You could look at an updating game map of cities controlled so you could see which races are in the lead. There would be a limit to how many members a specific race could have, so one couldn't be too controlling. This limit would be decided and constantly updated by seeing how many players are in each race at a time, so the numbers could fluctuate. If a nation does get too strong number wise, perhaps there could be things like plagues or viruses that would weaken the players fighting or healing abilities, slow down their movement speeds, etc.

I have several more ideas to add on, but I think I’m done for now – sorry if I didn’t do the best job explaining something or was vague - just ask if you cant understand or would like a part in greater detail. Thanks for reading.

I think you have a very interesting idea there, and i'm not sure how it would work as i've never played a game with something like it, I think it would have to be tried to know, It would eliminate the really good feeling of hitting the cap, which i think is gained by the fact that it takes long to get there, it makes it a bigger achievment.. in my eyes your idea could only take place if the game had a large variety of never ending things to do at the cap, because otherwise many players may get bored long before they would if the level cap was harder to reach like in most mmorpgs, which could result in a loss of income, if the payment method was monthly or so.

Well there would be the constant PvP, Guilds, and the game itself would take a very long time to beat - it wouldn't take a long time to achieve the max level, but it would take a long time to beat the entire game. You can implement ranks, that you get points in for accomplishing tasks, then you can show those ranks off and get special emotes, etc...I dont really PvE very much so I don't know how to stay entertained while PvEing, but I know the PvP system in this idea could be amazing.

Yeah, im with you, pvp is why i play.

And with what you just said, i think your idea would fit the game perfectly, make it a new kind of mmorpg, so it would attract many players to try the style out, and i think your idea would most definitely work! :)

the fihgting should be a bit like a playstaion 3 game combat, (e.g soulcaliber 4) it would make the game funner, and stuff like dodging gives xp in agility.

I don't like it so much, honestly it kinda sounds like it is comeing from WAR. I mean I don't agree with you when you say it should take 20 hours to get max level. What would be the point in playing? An MMORPG is supposed to be challengeing and take up time and be fun. Not just a quick little level up then run out of things to do.

We're not making a console game that takes 15 hours or so to complete, we're building a ever-growing MMORPG.
The main aim, in my opinion, is to have a game where you never run out of things to do.

No, you guys don't understand - max level would take about 20 hours, which is a fair amount of time. Getting all skills unlocked and such is what would take a long time, but all players wouldnt have to do this, and so they would have the option to just unlock skills that they want while others could do all quests and unlock all skills. That way people who enjoy wasting countless hours like Runescape can still do it, but those who just want to have fun in competitive missions or PvP can do so fairly quickly.

I like this idea, I have played a game with like the worst equipment and lowest lvl as everyone else is running around with like the strongest armour, I feel like shit because I don't have fun while all these other kids are having a great time!
