    need help with subnetting questions

i have been trying to figure out how to do this shiz for like a month i just can't work it out -_-

    Take the IP address 142.23.0.17
    Bits borrowed = 4
    Subnets = ______
    Hosts per subnet = _________
    Subnet mask 255.255.____ . _______
    In an unsubnetted network the network number is ____ . ____ . ____ . ____
(The last octet is all 0’s)
    The broadcast address is ____ . ____ . ____ . ____
(The last octet is all 1’s)
The same principles apply in subnets.
The first subnet consists of a network portion NN
    and a hosts portion HH,
but the first of these H’s has had some of the bits taken for a network address, so we have for example NN(___ bits for N, ____ bits for H).H
The first subnetwork is ____ . ____ . ____ . ____which we can show like this:
    Network Host
    ______ _________ . _____________ (this is the subnetwork address)
the first host address can be shown like this
    Network Host
    ______ _________ . _____________
then counting in binary we go up by one each time
    ______ _________ . _____________
    then
    ______ _________ . _____________
we keep adding 1 each time until we have the following:
    ______ _________ . _____________
this is the last host number in this subnet because when the host portion has all 1’s it is a broadcast address.
The broadcast address for this subnet then is shown like this:
    ______ _________ . _____________
That means that for the first subnet the subnetwork address is
    10001110. 00010111. _____________ . _____________
    the broadcast address is
    10001110. 00010111. _____________ . _____________
and the range of usable hosts is
    10001110. 00010111. _________ . __________ to 10001110. 00010111. __________ . __________
if we convert this to decimal we get
    142.23.__ . __ to 142.23.___ .____

btw this is only like a few cm way down the question page...and its like due this week O_O
